>Pelipper doesn't learn Thunder

My baby was almost perfect.
>>
>>29870195
literally only used as a supportmon why would he have thunder when someone with good spa could
>>
>>29870195
It gets hurricane right?
>>
>>29870214
because pelicans sounds like thunder when they smack the water
>>
>>29870240
Yes.

I wonder what the distribution of Surf is going to be with no HMs.
>>
>>29870293
220 out of 302 Alolan mons can learn it
>>
>>29870195
U-turn
Scald
Hurricane
Roost

I dont see any room for Thunder anyway...
>>
>>29870320
Knock Off would probably be better than Roost or Hurricane
>>
>>29870365
Maybe, but roost needs to stay, its the only weather setter with a move like roost/recover
>>
>>29870293

Surf is a TM now.
>>
>>29870365

>Not using STAB 100% accurate Hurricane
>>
>>29870390
>>29870365
u-turn also needs to stay for mementum

It also gets Defog
>>
>>29870195
why would a fucking waterbird learn THUNDER?

>Pelipper is viable as an OU mon
>Mantine is viable as an OU mon
>Talonflame is pretty much a shitmon at this point

What parallel universe am I living in?
>>
>>29870470

It can learn Shock Wave for some reason.
>>
Why did Pelipper and Torkoal get Drizzle and Drought and not Wailord and Camerupt, the original Mini-Kyogre/Groudon
>>
>>29870470
So it can be fun to use in game

>>29870195
Bros, did Pelipper get Drizzle?
>>
>>29870466
Defog is only obtainable from Gen 4, though, making it rare outside of simulators.

>>29870531
Now I feel sad; Wailord is more or less PU Kyorge with Water Spout spam too.
>>
>>29870584
Yes. Yes it did.

And Torkoal got Drought, Gigalith got Sand Stream, and Vanniluxe got Snow Warning.
>>
>>29870569
It's not immediate, their stats apply before turn order, but turn order is determined before moves are executed so Swampert is unaffected
>>
>>29870600
Ninetails also got Snow Warning
>>
>>29870584
Yes, it's not even a HA ability either.

We also got a mon with Cloud Nine whose stats aren't complete shit.
>>
>>29870674
I think Wingull has Swift Swim, actually. Only the final evolutions of the new weather mons have the abilities.
>>
>>29870674

Wingull doesn't get Drizzle, it gets Hydration, which turns into Drizzle when it evolves.

Yeah, sorry. If it makes you feel any better, Pelipper also got 10+ to its Special Attack.
>>
>>29870531
As happy as I am that torkoal got drought, drought camerupt would be awesome. Come in, set up the sun, mega evolve, and melt shit with fire blast for five turns.
>>
>>29870531
camerupt has a mega
wailord got cucked

it does...
>>
>>29870601
No, abilities are applied before turn order. Meaning if there is rain swift swim speed will determine order.

>Pelipper: Drizzle

>Torkoal: Drought

>Roggenrola: Weak Armor
>Boldore: Weak Armor
>Gigalith: Sand Stream

>Vanillite: Snow Cloak
>Vanillish: Snow Cloak
>Vanilluxe: Snow Warning
>>
>>29870601
source?
>>
>mfw Assault Vest Sand Stream Gigalith

delicious. My ass vest Gigalith on my sand team was already eating grass knots and hydrop pumps without even dropping below 50%
>>
>>29870782
What's the game plan? Assvest Tyranitar was hyped early XY and it turned out shitty.
>>
I kind of want to do my ingame team with Weather users now.

Pelipper with Scald/Surf and Hurricane (Wish it got Thunder)
Torkoal with Flamethrower and Solar Beam

Gigalith doesn't really get anything from having Sandstorm around though, Could have a Sand Force user, but that seems unnecessary for an ingame team

Don't know weather to use Vanilluxe or Ninetails though. Ninetails if getting HAs is possible, otherwise Vanilluxe

Also throw a Thunder User in I guess. Raichu maybe?
>>
>>29870975
Gigalith becomes a solid tank with great attack and defenses.
>>
>>29870997
In-game is usually best played Hyper Offensively though, isn't it?
>>
Are there any changes to Weathers this Generation? Does hail Buff any stat like Sandstorm does?
>>
>>29871029
You can do whatever you want, really.

>>29871049
Slush Rush was given to A-Sandslash and Bearartic, which is basically Hail Swift Swim.
Aurora Veil is also only useable during a Hail as well.
>>
>>29870852
So far, mindgames mostly

absolutely no one expects Gigalith to eat a special move and keep on trucking, so its useful for drawing aggro in Doubles and various shenigains. I'm aware its not the best, and Sand Stream prevents it from taking based Sand Force, but I'm a fan of uncommon tactics

also, fun fact. Scarfed Vanilluxe. Modest. Snow Warning Blizzard.

OHKO's Dragonite through Multiscale. Espeed doesnt even drop an uninvested Vanilluxe to half. the ONLY dragon that outspeeds is scarfed Hydreigon, and its Draco Meteor does 90% at the most

glorious ice cream meta here to completely obliterate dragons.

Is there an ice-type defogger/spinner?
>>
>>29871049
We got lots of new weather setters this gen, new weather-based abilities such as slush rush, and mons that help weather teams out a lot like the Tapus.
>>
>>29871088
Avalugg, Crygonal, and A-Sandslash have Rapid Spin. Delibird and Articuno have Defog I think.
>>
>>29871088
Cryogonal but you're probably better off using Starmie or Beauty (who spams Blizzard and offers Fighting/Bug coverage)
>>
>>29870774
>Gigalith is a cancerous TRADE EVOLUTION
fuck off Game Freak seriously
>>
>>29871159
Almost everyone I know, In Uni or not, plays Pokemon, it's not hard to find someone to Trade with.
>>
>>29871184
I think it's less about finding another 3DS to trade with (though that's a legit concern) and more about how much unnecessary formalities it takes to evolve it.
>>
>>29870531
drought+growth mega camerupt would be amazing
>>
>>29870601
You're wrong. Megas and their abilities activate before turn order is decided now.

Mega Swampert will be a lot better now that you don't have to pre-evolve it to sweep in the rain.
>>
>>29870975
>Also throw a Thunder User in I guess. Raichu maybe?
Topo Keku for the boosted Thunder.
>>
>>29870601
There's a video that proves that a level 10 Banette mega evolves and uses its Prankster to use Substitute before a level 43 Execcute hits it, so that's definitely debunked
>>
>>29871256
>Topo Keku
Unavailable until Postgame
>>
>>29871295
Well, yeah, but it's an option when you get there.

Raichu then for Alolan representation and some shiny Psychic STAB
>>
>>29870975
You can get HAs by chaining called mons

Vanilluxe is probably better for in-game since it hits a lot harder, although Light Clay Aurora Veil is insane no matter what
>>
>>29870214
It has 95 spa now, Hurricane is going to sting
>>
>>29871363
Not really since anything under 100 is under average at best and Pelipper is going off uninvested attacks, but yeah it'll help against annoying grasses like Amoonguss that like to soak up Waters
>>
>>29872158
>anything under 100 is under average at best
Talonflame has less attack than Meganium.
>>
>>29872235
I'm talking mainly about Speed and Talonflame is carried mostly by its access to high base power moves.
>>
>>29872346
>high base power moves.
Like Hurricane?
>>
>>29872346
SpA*
>>
>>29872346
High base power moves like perhaps Hurricane and rain boosted Scald?
>>
>>29872366
>>29872356
Ahem, AND investment AND setup moves which Pelipper clearly won't use unless you want soaked dead birds for dinner

>>29872356
>>29872366
Not that guy, but while I agree most things aren't gonna enjoy taking a Scald or Hurricane, it's not completely fair to compare Pelipper to TF since one actually invests into attack while the other does not.
>>
So if I speed swap something with high speed onto vikavolt and then switch to pelliper I'd have an awesome doubles offense by turn 2?
>>
>>29872960
Yes but that's assuming you have two free turns to actually perform anything that perfect.
>>
>>29870495
The best possible one
>>
>>29871029
Don't forget it still has base 135 attack
>>
>>29872235
And Talonflame is complete shit. Your point?
>>
>>29870495
Who should Mantine pair up with? Ferrorthorn?
>>
>>29870495
Both Peli and Mantine die horrible to Tapu Koko though.
>>
>>29874181
Yeah, mantine resist fire and fighthing meanwhile ferro resist electric and rock, they work well with the other.
But shit like Thunder Punch Infernape/ZardX can break the core
