its a little over designed with a lot of the little bits and bobs pocking out of it but its still looks like an "eldritch space monster" while also being as goofy and lovable as a pokemon can be

my idea is get rid of the all the ax blades jutting out of it except for its "eyebrows" and perhaps move or get rid of the arms and put the horns where the arms are although idk if that would detract from the hole alien thing its got going on

What the fuck kind of artistic unity does "tons of random, non-uniform spikes and blades" have? There's pointed spikes, curved spikes, a mace tail, axe-blades jutting out on its sides, etc. . . it's just a mess.

And if being an utter mess was the design approach, that's fine, but it's not one that I personally support-- just doesn't look good, in my personal opinion. You're definitely right though.
