How is it like comparatively to previous ones? The aesthetics, landmarks, variety, navigation, immersion, music, etc.?
no1curr? Bottom tier confirmed?

Bumping to get answers from people who played it. Also curious
It's pretty fun the first time through, it isn't structured at all like the previous regions which I bet will throw some people off.

I'm enjoying the region more than any other part of the story, despite the fact that many buildings are simply un-enterable. I almost couldn't get past the first island because I thought I didn't like the new overworld structure, but by island 2, I find that if you rush through the story events and THEN explore each island, the overworld feels really free and interesting

It probably "flows" the best out of any region if that makes any sense.
So what I'm getting from these answers is that there's less linearity in these games. Hmm.
The regions feels a lot bigger than the others but that's probably because of the ''bigger size'' of the graphical engine itself. There's a lot of detail and I like that a lot of routes got diferent paths
7.8/10
Too much water
Routes feels cramped, probably due to the character size.
No large caves to explore. Very little new areas to access with new riding pokemon. Lots of ways to avoid tall grass.
I really like how much detail there is inside buildings now, and it doesn't feel repeated, though it does suck that there are so many unenterable buildings. I feel like the routes and cities in this game were for the most part unmemorable, honestly.

Not sure if srs, but does this mean all (or most) the water in the region is traversable? Cause that is a huge mass.

The water enclosed in rocks on the main map are all surfable areas. Boats are needed to go from island to island if you are not flying.

This is a shame.

This I like. I've been looking for another region that flows well since Johto

there's far more linearity in the story, but the good thing about it being more like 4 'mini regions' is that you can explore each island at your leisure after you've finished the main tasks, also new stuff opens up as you progress which is cool
