I'm not a fan of Ohmori's ultra plot heavy stuff like delta episode and the main plot of sun moon. It feels like the main campaign just drags with the constant cutscenes. People who enjoy jrpgs are probably going to like it, but as someone who prefers more open ended games, it'd pretty annoying.

At least story-wise, B/W is WAY better than B2/W2.
Also, even though B/W have the best story in the franchise (not counting Su/Mo, since i haven't played it yet, Gen 5's PokéDex is the worse design-wise, save few exceptions.

Mayeb because before Pokemon didn't need barrels filled with exposition and cutscenes and it did just fine with all that before Gen 5 came along and started the whole trend that would never go away.

Pokemon is the type of series that should have taken an approach like Dark Souls, where the lore of the world is explained through items, NPCs and other stuff, instead of being forcefed it through unskippable cutscenes and unlikeable characters

swap HGSS with emerald. Emerald got everything right, HGSS didn't fix the level curve or shit distribution of johto mons OR gym leaders majority having kanto pokes and few johto ones. the walking buddy was a gimmick to distract from the fact that they didn't fix johto's main problems.

It does really suck, pokemon will never have a good story because obviously it is catered to children. Every time they try to add story it comes off with edgy characters and the cheesest of dialogue.

My appreciation for Emerald came mostly from playing it as a kid and continuing to enjoy it on repeat playthroughs as I got older. Theres just something about it that holds up really well. Plus the Battle Frontier is amazing.
