>A FUCKING ANCHOR
k
Anchor can't threaten other Grass types with Brave Bird, nor can it boost with Nasty Plot / Swords Dance, nor can it freely pass the boosts with Baton Pass, nor can it U-Turn the fuck out of there whenever it wants to, nor does it get Synthesis or any recovery outside of Rest.
I actually want to like the Anchor, but his movepool is just absolute shit.

Dhelmise vs. Decidueye is a question of bulk and power vs. a vastly superior movepool. I think Decidueye is actually better off, as stupid as it is that these two are built so similarly.
Decidueye has boosting moves, Baton Pass, two options for recovery in Roost and Synthesis, and some decent utility moves like Defog. It is somewhat faster, too, so it can work better as a pivot, passer, or even wallbreaker. Spirit Shackle is critical as a STAB option and source of momentum, and I could see it ending up as a Baton booster or even go on the offensive itself by using Swords Dance, STABs, and Roost. Shame it doesn't get Shadow Sneak, Agility, or even Tailwind to make up for its lackluster speed, or decent special moves to make use of its wasted mixed offenses.
I don't expect Decidueye to take the competitive scene by force, but I do predict that it has more effective niche possibilities than Dhelmise. Could be totally wrong, and later movepool additions in subsequent games could really help them out.

>decent special moves to make use of its wasted mixed offenses.
I think this is probably it's biggest problem.
If you see a Decidueye, there's a FUCK ton of sets it could be running - it's going to hard as fuck to properly predict it.
It can be:
>Bulky Sweeper with SD/Roost
>Bulky Grass Counter
>Trapping U-Turner
>Trap Passer
>Support with Defog and Light Screen
When you see one, you have to account for everything.
>First Turn
It can Trap you, it can U-Turn the fuck out of there, and it can SD. Mispredicting any of these will hurt like a bitch.
>Second Turn
If it trapped you, it can now setup or U-Turn to a counter. If it SDs, it can Trap you, start attacking, or Baton Pass.
However, if at any point it Nasty Plots, you can be 100% certain it's a Baton Pass set, which makes it significantly more predictable than it could have been.

It's stat distro is weird and it has its share of flaws, but I do not think Decidueye is a bad Pokemon now. It can perform many roles, and it can actually perform them pretty well. That unpredictable versatility should serve it well, but more Speed or Special moves would've helped a lot.
