There are few Dex entries that flat out mention Pokemon being eaten by people and other Pokemon. Not that big of a deal, but it's something new.

The games seem to crank up the dark with each generation.

I don't get it. G1 was dark AF compared to later games but it felt natural. SM doesn't pull it off, it just comes off as forced.

Sea Mauville was pretty dark. Plus there was mentionings of people not being able to afford rent in the Mauville apartments, which is scary is a completely different way. Also, Lysandre almost decimated the population and was then killed. AZ was forcefully given immortality and wandered for 3000 years searching for the one thing he loved. Scientists almost wiped out an entire planet with a meteorite due to laziness.

I've recently played through most of Pokémon games and I can definitely say that gen7 is a bit darker, but not a lot more than the other games. It doesn't feel forced to me and the dex entries and side stories are nice touches that make the world feel a bit more real.
