I just love the speed of Gen V and the size of BW2. SM is probably the best "first version" of any generation, though. Very good start

And if you don't see this, you're an autistic babby who needs to accept that this series is just there to sell toys. It was purer at the beginning, not complicated, unique in it's sprites. Any errors or simplicity were just quirks of the game boy era. Gen 7 is the worst, followed closely by 6, then 5. 4 and 3 were great. But this series is garbage now. There's a reason it is waning in popularity.

It feels a lot more like an actual RPG and changes up a lot of things. This time there is actually a story so people are rating it better. Also the old experience system from BW is back so that makes the games like 10x more enjoyable for a lot of people.

If anyone asks me what my favorite mainline game is, it's always the newest games.
I have a lot of good memories with playing with other people in XY and I've spent more time DexNaving in OrAs than pretty much anything else (outside of toying with Gen 1 glitchfests), and the jump to 3D was very impressive.

None of the games are perfect, but each generation has been better than the previous overall.

I've actually not played SM yet other than the demo. But the demo was pretty fucking awful and soulless. But it would be hard to not build on XY since it was so content-less so I'll predict that SM is at least better than that. It could be better than 4, I could see it, but I'd be shocked if it's any higher up the rankings than that. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

This is a minor gripe, but what I got from it, it doesn't bode well. I was literally walking to the center, it was in my sights, when the game decided to stop me, fade to black, and pan over to Hau waving at me saying the Pokemon center is over here even though I was looking right at it. Who fucking designs a game like that? If the "story" is filled with handholding and CONSTANT and unnecessary NPC interruptions like XY then that already brings it down from a maximum possible score of 10/10 to a 5 or maybe 6 out of 10 tops. It's fine if a game has a story, like most RPGs do, but Pokemon "characters" are so fucking monotonous and uninteresting it gives me a headache to have to mash A through walls of text while some dumb kids are telling you how great friends we are. Like no, we're not friends fuck off let me play the game.

In all honesty all of them are pretty close, 1 is down there because even with remakes it's a tad bit outdated. Hopefully, when the (inevitable) Kanto 3d remake comes it'll be as good as S/M.

What do you generally play for? The National Dex, Horde Battles, Super Training, and Egg-hatching routes are all gone in addition to Triple and Rotation battles, fair warning. If exploration is your thing, you're literally walled out of the next route/town/etc until you complete more plot. The Friend Safari is gone too and the postgame is basically Maison in a tree with even less battle modes and a mystical unlockable portal to a new world full of promise and wonder... that just fucking switches your clock 12 hours.

On the upshot Totem Battles are actually fun, customization is good, the game has a lot of charm even when it's tanking framerate like a dying system. It's not all bad, it just has a lot of faults.

Not sure if it's more of a disappointment than the clusterfuck that was ORAS or not.
