There's no way this can be correct. If I'm understanding correctly, people are claiming this because no one's unlocked it yet despite completing the game and the dataminers haven't found dex entries or sprites for any of the old Pokémon, right?

But aren't those sprites also used for Team Preview? And you can catch old Pokémon with the Island Scan and transfer Ash-Greninja from the demo. Surely they have to at least have Team Preview sprites? I mean what, does it just show a black square when you use them online?

Uh, I think you guys are misunderstanding. The old Pokémon are still coded into the game, you just can't register them in the Pokédex. Ash-Greninja isn't in the Alola Dex, remember?

The Pokemon are all compatible, of course, but yes, there's no National Pokedex.

There's no reason to give you one in-game since Alola is so isolated. It's not like Pokemon from super far away will just start randomly showing up.

The National Pokedex entries are at text file 120 in the game's text files, but any Pokemon that doesn't appear in Alola has a blank space next to it. No entry at all. The blank spaces between entries correlate to the Pokemon that are and aren't native to Alola.

You can get the non-alolan mon literally by the first island with unlocking QR codes. They don't register in your dex, but you can catch them. All the pokemon I've seen using this have been non-native alolan pokemon so far.
