Because it's only a chance of the pokemon calling for help and that only has a chance of success. It's inferior to horde training for very obvious reasons, and its inferior to dexnav because you can't even tell when the pokemon will have good IVs (and you can't even influence its nature with Synchronize), and you also can't force the Pokemon you want. you have shuffle in the grass until you find the pokemon you want via RNG.

I can see from this thread some pokemon call others in the family and other related pokemon entirely which could give different EVs. But I'm sure somewhere in the game there has to be a mon that gives one type of EVs that only summons more of the same mon for every stat.

So you could potentially EV train an entires stat at once by finding the lowest one for each stat that does that and just continuously offing them until you've hit the magic number you need.

against normal wild pokemon, there is a random chance at the end of each turn that they will summon an ally
the consumable guarantees summons at the end of each turn
each summoned ally has a slightly higher chance of improved stats and shininess, likely the same scaling as the old pokeradar

if you are shiny chaining, this is literally what you want, as you won't even have to exit battles, you can simply stay in the same one until it summons a shiny ally.

I'm saying that the call mechanic is a shit mechanic and it's only good for totem battles. It's "good" for EV training, but its only "good" because its the most reliable method of EV training we have. Horde training is still completly superior to it in terms of Effort Values.

This is unfortunately true, chains tend to cap under 50 summons (depends on the mon) but there's a significant increase in chance for high IV since most summons (from what I've compared to the leader) are stronger than the summoner. If that's true a 50% perfect IV mon (15 IV's in each stat) would take 90 chains to assure perfect IV's.

This thread has turned me from 'won't be buying the game' to 'might buy'. Shiny hunting has always been a big draw for me and now I'm very interested in this new chaining mechanic using summons.

You can use more Adrenaline Orbs do wait out turns without burning your own PP. It'll say the Orb fails but you don't actually lose it.

Pelago island or whatever it's called? The IV training from what I seen can be accessed as early as the roadside Hotel on the second island. However, getting the EV training island requires you to have pokebeans and to have caught enough pokemon. Requires something like 60-90 beans(can't recall at the moment). You get more beans from the coffee guy in every pokecenter and from shaking the beanstalk on the island.
