This. If you don't have enough money / don't want to spend too much on a New 3DS, just buy a 2DS instad because it's a lot cheaper and you don't need 3D for Pokèmon games anyways.

Just keep in mind that load times will be greater and your game will lag a bit more too.

Also there is a 3DS emulator but it's very very primitive. Plays ORAS just fine though, and SM too, if your computer is good enough for them of course

I don't know, I've done a good job of avoiding spoilers for SM but my 3DS broke a while after I finished XY for the first time.

I'd say it depends on you anon. With life etc right now I personally don't even have the time to play vidya so for most of my vidya I've just been watching LPs on YouTube while I eat dinner/lunch, likely will do the same with SM.

Where I live Nintendo doesn't even have a fanbase let alone official support so most of the consoles and games are imported, and even then I don't know a good place to find them (There was a store in the local mall that closed down a year ago that had ORAS).

I just looked online and 3DS w/ Wii is being sold at $75 total (5000 INR). Wish I bought that.

Here sometimes you can find used 3DSes for 80 euros, most of the time it's a little higher than that. Brand new 2DSes go for around 90 euros, it's pretty rare to find an used one tho considering how cheap they are, and even if you find 'em used it's not much of a bargain - so it's still better to get a new one.

And since you mentioned a Wii, they're cheap as fuck here too. You can easily find one (no box, but with cables and accessories) for like, 25 euros. Just to let you understand how cheap they are, sometime ago I've been able to grab a job lot of four partially working Wiis for 35 euros, shipping included.

Buy a n3ds not an o3ds and hack it the second you buy it, it's worth the value then. You can install gen 1-3 games onto the hardware and play them gloriously on your n3ds.

Hacking a 3ds doesn't cost any money and can be done by basically dragging and dropping. I wouldn't recommend spending any more money than the hardware

Yes. I bought a new 2DS for 79€ on amazon with fw 10.7 mainly for sun&moon. Really easy to setup cfw a9lh. Best money ever spent with possibility of playing any 3ds game basically for free. Don't judge me, but I'm a student with no job and I don't want to pay 40€ for one game with a 22% statal tax. When I buy something I want the best value for the money and always prioritize hackability.

The beat reason to get a New 3DS is for the Virtual Console. Pokemon and amiibo support are icing on the cake.

I would usually say get the 3DS because it's clamshell and the extra 3D, but get a 2DS (unless the new 3DS is on sale) since the game barely uses the 3D so that goes unused for you. It depends on if you want something to carry around with a design that protects the screen via clamshell or a cheaper model at the cost of it being bulky and no clamshell. New 3DS also runs the game slightly better (as the device is more powerful) if you are willing to spend the cash.
