Most of them are extremely isolated using second-hand information from the few that can speak English, meaning they are late to everything and easy to influence with wrong info or bad translations. They also love to copy chan memes but with several years of delay, believing 3-year-old memes to be the pinnacle of sophistication and street cred.

In terms of Pokemon itself the Spanish translation is retarded beyond belief, and people sticks to it because they don't know any better, making any discussion a complete clusterfuck if you know the more widely used English names. The tone of the translation itself is some "wannabe amateur writer" with very flowery yet odious language, bizarre archaisms and absolutely retarded move/attack/location names. I recommend it to anons that know Spanish to make fun of it and nothing else.

Yeah most people who speak English barely bother to hang around, only if they got close friends inside or something, or the ones that act as translators (which, depending on the individual, might be people genuinely wanting to help or people wanting to be big shots for popularity). Same with news sources or general forums, even for more mainstream hobbies or topics.

I know for a fact that Japanese communities are similarly isolated as well, which explains a few of their quirks, although they usually make their own memes instead of seeing chan memes as the zenith of glamour.
I know it also happens with Portuguese-speaking countries, but can't say for other languages.

When it comes to Pokemon like another anon said the ingame translation is beyond retarded, it uses Spain-specific slang and terms that the rest of the spanish speaking world doesn't even know exist. Location names and attacks are a real mess to discuss if you use the english names. I still vomit a little in my mouth when I see "chachi piruli", "carantoña" or "placaje" somewhere.

I just play the games in English and pretend the Spanish speaking communities don't even exist, like most of us that learned English do, Spanish communities are just not worth it and all their gaming community/sites read like cheap gossip magazines.

Well, I know a Japanese guy that speaks good English and he's very in touch with news and shit, but he tells me stuff that sounds very similar to the Spanish communities, they have to rely on people that knows English to translate things, and because of the language barrier they rarely step outside their boundaries.

The flowery language and extreme archaisms reek of "amateur fantasy writer wannabe", in my opinion. It's kinda jarring they went with such translation style in a game for kids. I mean, it's totally unnatural. No-fucking-one talks like that.
You'd think that being a game with a mostly young audience they'd use language that goes more to the point even if it feels a little dry, but nope, they went full retard with it.

That's a thing with Spanish communities, actually. The fucking bad grammar and orthography. It's actually rare to see the word "hola" (hello) written properly. Like how the fuck can one manage to get past elementary school without learning how to write a basic greeting it beyond me. English speakers don't do it anywhere as much, and I am aware of the prevalence of shit like "your/you're" and such. At least they aren't misspelling fucking "Hello".

If you don't speak english i don't think any game community is actually worth getting into except for very few specific ones. German Dark Souls community is a pure shithole, and Minecraft, instead of dropping off, is still growing here because the german let's play scene is somehow still picking it up, and the snot-noses are getting worse, but eh, this is probably an easy target to pick on.
