I guess the fellow anon meant in case one hasn't seen one yet, then the QR code would really help, as it marks the Pokemon as "seen" in the Pokedex. Then, as you say, one would check the dex to find out about its locations.
But I don't get the problem, people should just search for it. According to the wild Pokemon list it's not even that rare (compared to Pichu). No patience anymore, these people here.
