Talonflame won't be OU, but I still believe it will be useful. It's so fucking fast, the loss of priority only really means quiver dancers and certain scarfers aren't completely shut down.

This is a change for the good. Talonflames won't be running choice band/adamant/bravebird any more which was too much, but now they'll probably timid with acrobatics which is much more manageable for the opposing player, and is still a viable strategy as long as it can avoid stealth rocks

Nah, Talonflame will be useless now.
It's basically a fire type Swellow now with Will-o-wisp. It's saving grace was that it could hit Scarf/Boosted users before they hit it, and was able to out prioritize a lot of priority abusers. Now it can't fight either of them at all unless it's the first turn of the game, or you have a clean Talon. It's now in an area where it gets killed by boosted Pokemon or Can't hit anything for shit if it want to keep its priority.

I am an idiot. Sandstorms raises the special defense of rock type pokemon by 50% not 100%.

Anyway it gets sand stream now, which summons a sandstorm that lasts until it's replaced by another weather condition. So even though the base stat is 80 it gets another +40 to special defense.
AND it has sand force which gives rock, ground and steel type attacks 30% more power. So it's rock moves gets STAB + 30 % power.

Thats not how stat boosts work. They go off of the pokemons actual stat, not the base stat.
