Apparently it goes comatose after Aether use it for a portal. You take it to the daze and revive it with flutes. Solgaleo or Lunala opens a portal to fight Lusamine.

It's a portal to the Ultra World, and evolves in to your games mascot

Anyone else worried that Cosmog and this thing might making having a living pokedex complicated? It seems like you only get this temporarily and are forced to evolve it.

Not just living dex complications but future National Dex completion complications. Either we get another Cosmog postgame, Solgaleo/Lunaala can revert back into Cosmog, the legendaries are breedable, or Cosmog/orb/mascot share a dex number?
