They gave Azumarill a glowing tail just to justify its retyping. At the end of the day, I think they just wanted to further distance the line from Pikachu and let it be its own thing, since XY also gave us Nuzzle and the Pikaclone battle wallpaper which didn't include Marill.

I'm not sure, but it isn't necessary. A lot of ghosties look like they could be part dark and vice versa, since they are both typically darker colored. But there is some way GF discerns one from the other I guess. Maybe at random.

In the case of Dragalge and Decidueye, those are Pokemon that can qualify for 3+ types which the game mechanics don't allow for. Same reason Flygon and Gliscor never bothered me.

I can acept Comfey, while it looks like a plant too, I can see that it can be also just holding flowers. Like I could accept Flabébé and Floette being pure Fairy, as they only hold their flowers.
