I dunno if I wanna get all Pokémon Reset Theory up in this bitch mostly because faggots will start complaining about Lockstin like they always do, but this very clearly points toward it.

We do not know much about the plot of Sun and Moon.
As such, no one knows what the purpose of Solgaleo or Lunala is at this point, or even if it will be Team Skull or the Aether Foundation that aims to control them.
Still, these Pokemon are the emissaries of the sun and moon, respectively. What would their powers be used for?

Could it be that Guzma, as "destruction in human form", wants to cause these celestial bodies to vanish or be destroyed and doom the planet entirely?
Or will Lusamine use an experimental machine to harness the power of the legendaries for something else?
Such as burning away oceans using the sun to give Alola, as well as the world, more landmass for humans and Pokemon?
Or use the moon's position to raise tides?
And then Lusamine pulls her face off to reveal that she is Maxie/Archie.

When it comes to Lockstin's big ol' theory, I think the most sensible way he's put it is having a new "cycle." We won't see a reboot, but rather, en 7 is the end of this "cycle" and the next gen will have another 37 year long plan that will culminate in gen 14.

The fact that on the remake side of things the next up in the slot are Diamond and Pearl, which have a lot of reset idea with them, considering that it has the pokemon equivalent of god, and after that is Black and White, which were originally supposed to be a soft reboot makes me think that now is the perfect time.
