How does Alola compare to the other regions so far for you? Is it already your favourite or least favourite? I'm cautiously optimistic for it, but I'm not gonna buy into the hype and declare it my fav already, nor am I gonna go all doom and gloom and declare it shit. Though I do understand if other people end up feeling that way themselves.

For me, it isnt either of those, though I expect to be top 3. I dont expect it to be my new favourite though, because I'm a bit worried that a lot of the areas will only be cool by way of being in 3D rather than just being interesting locations, like a few places in Kalos.

Also not gonna be delusional thinking it's secretly gigantic or anything. In fact, I'm pretty sure they chose Hawaii as inspiration so they could split up the overworld into smaller chunks to make it easier to handle on the 3DS. But I dont mind because Johto is one of the smallest regions and is also one of my favourites. And it's also about time we get a second good "tropical" region after Sevii_

Can't possibly be worse than Kalos.
>>
>>29657947
Well this is obvious. I think it would be impossible for me to like it the least. It cant be more boring than Kanto and it cant be a bigger clusterfuck than Kalos. It at the very least will be coming in 6th, worst case scenario.

As a Hawaii fag, I like it for being pretty spot on. The lore they gave to the mons and other things has been pretty spot on as to what we have here. I was pleasantly surprised. Missing a few mons that should've gotten in, but I'm still optimistic.

Fuck off unovabortion.
>>
>>29657890
I'll wait for the full game before making a statement.

Can't be worse than Unova, though.
>>
>>29658016
The regions have actually had a lot more references to their real locations than I realised over the years.

Though Unova took from all over america since it's just based on a single city
>>
>>29658060
>only people who like Unova can dislike Kalos
>>
>>29658071
True enough. Maybe it's just because I'm more familiar with the places than normal, or the location is smaller, Unova aside as you said.
>>
>>29658308
I think it's both of those. But it's still pretty great. And more of the world can experience their area being put into Pokemon
>>

waiting makes the most sense

I think Alola looks pretty great. Not really sure how it'll compare to the other regions at this point, but I've liked them all anyway.
Never would of guessed they'd do Hawaii, great idea for a setting. Going to a snowy, foresty region next would be nice for the contrast (sinnoh maybe).
>>
Based on the demo and trailers, I like what I've seen. Getting rid of grid-based movement allows them to focus on making each area unique instead of copypasting the same tree 1000 times.
>>
>>29657890

I don't have a favorite region.
>>
>>29657890
Looks unique but Camera was a both for exploring
>>
>>29660653
Yeah, but that led to a few Hoenn places looking worse, due to the trees being replaced by impassable raised land that just didn't work at all.
>>
>>29660593
I'm almost expecting the next region to definitely be snowy. Alaska or Siberia. Maybe a sandy place like Egypt as well.

Desert or snow is next is what I mean
>>
>>29661075
It would be good for patternfaggotry
>>
>>29662002
It would be. Urban, Rural, Tropical, Alpine.

I'd love if we got a pine forest that wasn't pretending to be a rainforest and is actually just trying to be a northern pine forest

Right now, I rank them at:

Johto>Sinnoh=Kalos>Hoenn=Kanto>Unova

That's based entirely on my own arbitrary, likely shitty, opinions though. Johto has a perfect storm of nostalgia/a lot of my favorite pokemon/really charming towns/quaint rural atmosphere that as a whole really appeals to me. Sinnoh and Kalos each have really unique routes and key locations that have a lot of character and I found memorable. Hoenn and Kanto are both perfectly serviceable and do what they set out to do quite well, I just don't care for them as much. Unova is the only region I actively dislike, which blows because I really like almost everything else about Gen 5. With the exception of Pinwheel Forest and Castelia, no location really jumps out to me, and I find almost every gym and other major focus in the region kind of forgettable.

If Alola can manage to offer a fair amount of fleshed out biomes, some memorable locations or unique battles, and maintains the island atmosphere, I can see myself liking it quite a bit, despite the disappointing regional dex.
>>
Hoenn > Unova > Sinnoh > Kalos > Kanto > Johto

Not rating Alola cause I haven't explored that shit yet.
>>
>>29663616
I want to visit a Sequoia inspired forest in Pokémon.
>>
>>29664440
switching Unova and Kalos would make this more in line with my thoughts. I found that Unova had memorable towns, which made up for it's pretty lame routes. Also, SkyArrow Bridge, Marine Tube and Village Bridge being great made up for the others being bland.

Johto is definitely the best though. It feels the most like one big cohesive region. The themes of the region bleed in to pretty much every single part of it.

As for Alola, the indoor dungeons look like it will be the deciding factor for me. And also the towns. Which better be distinct, as it looks like we're going back to lower numbers of them.

>>29664506
Wouldnt mind that either. Even if we havent had any locations with numerous tall structures since Unova. The third game in a row where the biggest city finds some way to not have a tonne of skyscrapers.
