They aren´t the exact same of course, since they arent called Alolan Unown, but the lore behind Shellos is pretty much the same but within Sinnoh instead of differentiating between Alola and the rest.

Yeah, a lot of the designs tanked later on, along with a lot of them being retconned out of existence for at least a while and brought back for a nostalgia grab. I'll always be partial to the MR2 designs, though.
