Both Lycanroc are fair game for furries, with varying degrees.

Silvally and Decidueye are tied for Gen 7 Smash representatives. On one hand, having a quadruped Pokemon fighter again with a plethora of moves and a connection to TOAA of Pokemon would be neat. On the other hand, Decidueye would be our first fully-evolved Grass-Type Starter Pokemon in a Smash game.

Personally, I would choose Sceptile from Gen 3 and Silvally from Gen 7 aaaand I am veering off-topic. I've said all I wanted to say.

I love all the starters in this generation, but the reason I want Decidueye in the game is because we already have a fully-evolved Fire-Type Starter and a Water-Type Starter, and I favor consistency above all else. If all bets were off though, I would have voted Blaziken and Sceptile with sincerity, and possibly Decidueye and Incineroar.

Pokemon in general is a franchise I don't mind seeing more of in Smash Bros., but GameFreak keeps holding it back. At least one rep per generation would really show off just how influential and impactful the franchise is all over the world.

To be perfectly honest, I would like to see the Pokemon Trainer return as an independent fighter, which as strange as it sounds, can actually work.

We could get a whooping 16 skins enabling us to play as 8 protagonists and 8 female protagonists, and each one uses a move you can put in your item bag (i.e. Rocky Helmet, Mach Bike, Bright Powder, etc.), and you have a potentially-hilarious, but still-useful handling of HM Moves. Imagine wondering how the Protagonist Trainer would recover considering that they're normal powerless beings in Pokemon context. Simply have Latios or Latias (or whatever can both fly and phase in and out of existence like nobody's business) to give them that boost they need to recover, or to fly right into an enemy. It sounds dumb and dull on paper, but if they do it right, the Trainer character can do some funny/awesome things. To put the nail in the coffin here, their Final Smash could be using a Z-move, and any one Z-move that would look best in HD could work very well in that environment. Guardian of Alola is something that comes to mind.

Ivysaur was indeed our first quadruped Pokemon fighter (at least if you don't count Pikachu running on all fours), but she is only a midstage evo. I am hoping Smash receives a major update ala Switch port and adds either Sceptile or Decidueye, which are the likeliest candidates for Grass-Starter representatives that come from unrepresented generations.

They are pretty good designs, but I wouldn't argue they're the only ones. Lurantis was a bit of a wildcard but I think that design's ballin' as well.
