Megas are such a half-baked concept is disgusting. They shouldn't have existed in the first place if their purpose was to buff weak mons. But it's very clear they were there as a gimmick to bring more money, giving special treatment to a few mona and disregarding everything else. If any mon that needed a mega got it, it was completely unintentional. Flygon getting fucked out because of "artist block" when Aerodactyl, Sharpedo, Lucario, Garchomp and Tyranitar just get spikier is fucking unforgivable, but don't worry, they TOTALLY add to the core appeal of their designs guise.

Well to start with I'll admit I'm biased, I've loved every main series Pokemon game and as long as the basic formula's there I'm happy.

I will admit Amie is the best non-gameplay feature in the franchise. it makes connecting with your pokemon much easier. Also i forgot about Hordes and ability capsules. those are pretty neat too. As for the pokemon i think it was a huge letdown after bw, from 8 bug lines to 1 is pretty harsh, and i didn't gravitate towards a lot of them.

You introduced a rather small pool of new Pokémon which is quite underwhelming in itself, but like some mentioned above, none of the Pokémon you introduced I actively hate.

It negatively affected me personally because they circlejerked about Lucario for half an hour before forcing it upon you. Pandering is negative when it becomes excessive because you start to get sick of the thing they're trying to pander to you.

Not to mention Riolu was already available as an early-game 'mon, and a lot of people playing for the first time reported already having a Riolu/Lucario before they shoved it down your throat and made you use a completely different Lucario.

Really moved the series forward. I loved playing dress up and playing with Malamar

Thank you for bringing my love of Pokemon back. After the disappointment of gens 4 and 5, I thought I was done with Pokemon. XY are my favorite games because they were so immersive and comfy. The 3D was done well with beautiful environments, the soundtrack was the best yet, customization made me able to see myself as a pokemon trainer, the large national dex made it easier to catch them all, you've introduced my favorite type (fairy) and a lot of my favorite Pokemon (Dedenne, Klefki, M-Mawile, Sylveon) and Pokemon Amie and Friend Safari were really fun, it was great being able to easily breed and train my teams, and megas were a cool concept. I was really hoping for a sequel or Z and I'm sad to move on :(

The 3D models reminded me of Pokemon Stadium, one of my favorite game

I never finished Pearl. I don't know, it just didn't really click with me. I tried playing Heart Gold, which was alright but not satisfying either. And for 5, I liked playing White but there was nothing to do after the game was done and by that time I kind of just stopped playing pokemon until Gen 6 rolled around. I tried playing White 2 recently since I skipped it, but after playing XY I just don't see myself playing any of the older games. ORAS was also kinda shitty. I guess I'm just really picky. I also really like customization so playing as a white/japanese kid again turned me off.

Reading through this thread and thinking back on it, i realize that i have lot more positive memories of XY than ORAS. It's probably because XY didn't have many expectations to live up to beyond what it set for itself (being 3d, the megas, etc.). ORAS had some decent new features of it's own, but the things it lacked from past games (Emerald battle frontier, XY trainer customization) will always stick out in memory. Compared to the previous 3 Gen-concluding games (Emerald, HGSS and BW2) it feels much less substantial.

XY, I think you get more hate than you deserve. You gave us the comfiest region to date, a fantastic OST, some cool new mechanics, Fairy type and customization. Even though your number of new mons was small, they each have an interesting quirk to them. Not mentioning the early XY meta was a really cool time.

ORAS, I can't say the same for you. While I was one of the few who truly enjoyed the Delta Episode, the rest of the game feels misdirected. I hope that I don't have to watch another VGC match with Primal Groudon for a very long time. Sad to say it, but I find it hard pressed to miss you.

Even though I liked you XY, I know that you'll unfortunately remain glossed over in the future. 7th Gen is going to be the definitive 3DS Pokemon games, and I acknowledge that I'll probably like them better. With that said, Kalos will always hold a cool little niche within the franchise, and I truly hope that some day all of its secrets will finally be solved

Thanks for the good new pokémon, the megas, a remake of my second favorite gen (even if it could've been better), and the 500 hours I spent having fun with everyone during the time the game was new.

Also, XY are really fun to nuzlocke. One day, I'll beat a Nuzlocke run of them.

Lastly, you made me understand what pokémon is really about: playing, communicating and having mindless fun with other people. Can't wait for S/M.

Thanks for reminding me that Gen 1 had the better games than the complete wasteland that was XY that had to rely on nostalgia and fan masturbation to be enjoyable instead of an actual subtle interesting yet simple world building, which is why I stuck on Pokemon for so long when it comes to the single player experience in the first place.
