Is this an Ace Attorney reference?
they don't have ace attorney in japan so probably not
I wanted alolan granbull so bad
It's a McGruff the Crime Hound reference.
>>29626817
Maybe a little but I'm sure they have a better badger-like pokemon.
It's a blue badger
>>29626825
You're right. Why would the Japanese care about an American franchise?
>>29626832
Now I feel old.
>>29626848
pearl is an angel
>>29626825
This, do they even have hamburgers over there?
Hello, would any of you fine gentlemen like to visit the beautiful country of Alola? I've got coupons for you gorgeous people for 200 potions with every purchase. I insist you have some.
>>29626936This guy was fucking based, I'm glad he got a happy end
>>29626936
This guy reminds me of Daft Punk. I don't know why.
>>29626817
There's also Gumshoos (no explanation needed) and Guzma, who kinda looks like Dr. Crab from Turnabout Reclaimed.
>>29626986
Dartrix as well.
>>29627000
That's so perfect.
>>29627000
Heh....his signature.
Could be, when they have Gumshoos as well
>>29626986
Crab was great. Truly captured the autism of somebody who works with marine life/ a caring vet.
>>29626959>that moment when he got serious and you knew this guy could be trusted
based as fuck
>Green and brown color scheme
>Stands tall
>Names based on trees
>Signature makes it so you can't leave
>Signature is shooting an arrow
>Lore about it silently moving behind the scenes
>Scientific name of a barn owl is strixalba.
I'm surprised that nobodies made the connections yet.
No, but they're both references to the same Japanese practice of police mascots.
>>29627440
>Battle Tree
OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>>29627440
*Tyto alba
>>29627516
Thanks, my bad.
>>29627478
>police mascots
You mean everything mascots. Japs love their mascots.
>>29626986
obligatory edit
>>29626896I bet she likes dicks.
>>29627000
I saw this the other dayon tumblr.I fucking love it; it's perfect.
>>29627632
no
pearl is pure
>>29627682
>yfw she likes pearl necklaces though
>>29627697
no
no
no
>>29627705
>yfw she snail trails across your body
>>29626848
The worst part about this becoming a meme is that now the localization team will never stop doing it and actually make the game authentic. Even Pokemon eventually stopped the whole" donut" bullshit after a while.
>>29627759
I honestly don't particularly mind it with Ace Attorney. It's weird, sure, but it's okay.
>>29627682pure ecstasy
>>29626848
>>29628035
okay fine
>>29628270
>tfw anon finally admits he wants to fuck the loli
>>29628347
true
>>29626817
>wow a dog Pokemon as a mascot
>As a policeman
obviously a reference to Jojo, AA, Animal Crossing, and so on.
>>29628439
althoughloli franziskais better than pearl
>>29628547
this senpai
>>29628439
Join us, anon.
>>29628547
Nah, she doesn't like love.
>>29628558
what aboutforcedlove
>>29628632
But anon, I can do thatand have done thatwith other lolis who aren't moody little brats and will actually appreciate it.
>>29628824
Story?
>>29626929
Yes, it's just also ham steak for some reason.
>>29626835
Go away Triple-Q
>>29627759
At this point it would fuck with consistency.
Calling rice balls donuts isn't the same as completely altering the setting of an entire series
They have to ride this train until it falls off the tracks.
>yfw Japcom has him go to the States to see Mei Karuma and Capcomerica has to completely change everything so he goes to Germany to see Franziska Von Karma while Japcom laughs about it
>>29628481
>dog + blue color + police theme
It's Kamen Rider, you idiot.
>>29628824
Anon you do realize that we can actually seriously report you to the FBI for saying this right
>>29627759
So what? Ace Attorney's localization is one of the best I've ever seen. I honestly feel like they made the location change work.
and for the record I'm not even American.
>>29627000
>>29626986
These are why I'm naming all of my Pokémon after Ace Attorney characters this time around
Whom would Godot fit best? Kommo-o maybe?
>>29627759
What i fucking love about the AA american localization is how like 80-90% of all characters' names are puns
>>29626825
This is just false.
>>29630801
Seconding this
>>29626817
Japan have mascots for everything and the dog thing is more likely a character development tool for an NPC police officer character that will also have some plot relevance later on.
Friendly, goofy police officer who appears contrary to the idea of a stern protector of the law is a pretty standard character archetype.
>>29628824
>That spoiler
Please tell me you're speaking about fictional people.
>>29630964
It's the same in Japan
>>29627759
At this point I don't mind things like Maya loving burgers because it's funnier that way. In Japan she's dressed in old traditional clothes and she likes traditional ramen, so she kind of falls into a stereotype. The juxtaposition of the localized Maya loving a greasy American food is fun.
But the ones that kind of bug me are things like that one case in AA5 with all the traditional Japanese stuff. They didn't quite explain that one well enough
>>29631063
Case 5-2 could just be and was labeled "immigrant town"
6-4 was much worse, it was just "oh yeah these guys just so happen to be performing traditional Japanese theater in California"
>>29631083
>>29631063
To be fair though, this is a fantasy series with a fantasy court and fantasy magic and fantasy witnesses who commit fantasy murder. They really don't need to explain jack shit.
>>29631097
Still that's a huge cop out to be like "lel it ain't real it doesn't have to make sense". Like that one Bethesda writer who got called out on a lore error and just said "fuck it, it's fake bro".
The Ace Attorney localisation team does a fantastic job nearly all the time though.
>>29631164
But this wasn't a lore error, it was just a non-realistic situation/plot hole.
I understand what you mean, though.
>>29631199
It's not a big deal, but it's still a hole in a small part of the plot. I know it doesn't matter much, but his reaction was annoying for a writer who should care about making a cohesive world, not just, "oh whatever "
>>29630952
No.Acro
>>29626832
Take a bite out of crime!
>>29631230
Oh I wasn't talking about the Fallout thing. That was absolutely a lore error and whoever made it should be ashamed and the writer who responded on Twitter should be fired.
I'm talking about the Ace Attorney thing.
>>29631286
Oh yeah no the Ace Attorney stuff certainly isn't a problem at all
>>29631199
>plot hole
Jesus Christ, stop it. How come nobody uses that term correctly anymore? It's usually not as far off the mark as this though.
>>29630801
There is no story.
>>29630916
>implying you have any proof of anything
>>29630992:^)
>>29626817
All Japanese police departments by city have their own mascots. Given how low report rates are on crime in Japan they've had a long standing policy of maintaining as friendly a relationship with their communities as possible. It's just a generic police station mascot. I'm more mad that there's no Alolan snubull and granbull to go with meowth and persian.
>>29628824
Should I be concerned about this post?
>>29627759
There are a handful of European translations that also change the location to Europe. It's all because of that damn clock in the first game.
>>29628126
Can someone post the pic with all the variations of this?
>>29628126
kek
>>29626817
Nah. Pretty much every company has a mascot in Japan. It's normal for them.
>>29626817
No, a bunch of Japanese police stations have mascots. Hell a bunch of Japanese [insert business or township type here] have mascots.
