Pretty self explanatory. Please try to keep them balanced, and include reasons if you want.

Arcane type.
Basically a "magic" type. Psychic and fairy are similar enough, but this is based more on "classical" magic, with rituals, potions, and shit.

Strong against: Dark, Ghost, Fairy. (magic can be used against supernatural creatures)
Weak to: Grass, Steel, Ice, Fire. (materials and temperature are very important in rituals and potions)
Resistant to Arcane, Dark, Ghost, Fairy, Poison (same reasons as "strong against", plus self resistance and poison resist because of potion knowledge)
Resisted by Grass, Steel, Bug. (Bug resists is there to buff it a little, and some bulshit about nature resisting magic)

Gameplay wise, Arcane type would focus mostly on Special Attack and status moves.

Some pokemon that would be retyped to Arcane are Delphox (Fire/Arcane), Abra line (Psychic/Arcane), Mismagius and Spiritomb (Ghost/Arcane), and Sigilyph (Arcane/Flying).

I was thinking about a new type, specifically one that could realistically exist and be strong against water. Since we're getting more and more artificially created pokemon, what about a Plastic type? Could expand on artificially created pokemon; something like mass produced "pokemon". No idea about weaknesses and strengths other than it's super effective against water because fish get cucked by plastic waste.

I like your idea. Here's mine.

>Cosmic Type

Essentially an "Alien" or otherworldly type. Also based off of celestial bodies or space itself.

Strong Against: Fighting, Ground, Fire, Water, Flying, Cosmic
(Fighting because you can't punch space, and aliens are almost always depicted as being superior to brute force. Fire because Fire can't burn in space, and Flying and Water to sort of complete the elemental advantage. Cosmic because the universe is always at war with itself, planets crashing into eachother and throwing other planets off course, black holes, supernovas etc.)

Weak to: Ghost, Bug, and Dragon (Dragon and Ghost because these are Forces native to Earth that aliens have not encountered before. Bug because some aliens are known to be weak to viruses and illness, like in War of The Worlds, Also to give Bug a buff).

Resistant to: Fire, Ice, Fighting (Fire and Ice because Aliens are usually adapted to harsh climates. Fighting again because aliens have superior abilities to brute force)

Resisted by: Dragon (Because dragons are a powerful, threatening force of nature that aliens are not used to dealing with)

Gameplay wise, Cosmic type would have good defenses, good HP and mainly be focused on special attacks and status.

Some Pokemon that would be retyped to Cosmic are Deoxys (Cosmic/Psychic), Elgyem line (Cosmic/Psychic), Cleffa line (Fairy/Cosmic), and Lunatone and Solrock (Rock/Cosmic)

It would probably alter or add to a lot of poison types in general, but it would basically be "amorphous, but not about to outright go through physical objects like a ghost". In my head the type match ups are kind of ambiguous, but I'm thinking it would probably be close to

I tried to understand the reasoning behind the typings of Pokémon and came up with different kinds of logic. I know that in japanese, many of these typings have different meanings, but this is what I came up with:

1.First, we have the obvious elemental ones;

> Fire
> Ground
> Rock
> Steel

> Grass
> Ice

2. Then, we have those that seems to describe common RPG creatures:

> Ghost
> Fairy
> Bug
> Normal (meaning non-magical)

3. And last but not least, the ones that describe the human nature:

Following that logic, I'd say that adding any type to the first segment would just beat a dead horse. If you want new types, you should aim for Creatures or Human Nature. This is what I came up with:

As of now, the Fairy type is a fucking mess. None of the included Pokémon have any correlation to each other, and it seems to just being randomly slapped onto whichever Pokémon they can slap it onto. So in opposition to this, I would like a type that ACTUALLY specializes in what is good and divine. An opposite "Evil type". And to mix this with an existing element that all on its own symbolizes what is good and divine in real life, I think calling it "Light type" would be completely justified.

The reason I stopped wanting a Cosmic type is because imagine for a second they make a space faring region/generation and everything was at least one type, possibly a handful of rock and ice without much else. Boring as all hell right? Consider that the type is a reflection of how they a t t a c k. Summoning meteors would be interesting but what else is there? Auroras? Comets? It all becomes pretty bland after a while as cool as it sounds. I believe they are not tempted to insert the Cosmic type for those reasons and because they will in that far off gen reveal that Pokemon are in fact from space, a la panspermia, and that types are an adaptation only Pokemon and Ultra Beasts (alien overlords or w/e) possess.

Sound however is a reason method of attacking on Earth and on atmosphere bearing planets and moons, with a notable absence in actual space. Psychic has been reskinned as Cosmic which I'm more or less okay with. A lot of psychic and normal mons are sound types.

It includes a lot of interesting physics which I'm sure you could appreciate like Resonance, a Sound move that always hits Steel for, at least, x2 SE damage regardless of secondary type. Sonoluminence morphed into an attack could be an accuracy lowering priority attack w/ or w/o damage. Bass Blast, a Fire extinguishing move that deals damage and lowers attack, defense, and speed 1 stage while targeting Fire types Tremors and the lot are included. Interesting moves really, Earth-based and already practical to implement.

I'd loved the idea of a sound type and had nearly the same list of possible pokemons. But some anon said something clever about it. If you change types of all sound based moves, there will be no more Normal special moves.

That's true. But if they introduce a new type it would be in a new generation meaning there would be brand new moves introduced. They could easily just make new special attacking normal type moves. Plus some moves like tru attack would still be normal.

Ice/snow insulates sound well. Ice is like amorphous glass, and yes glass breaks from sound. However this is not a crystalline lattice, shit on Rock if you HAVE to but not Ice. Pull that punch, my friend.

Steel however needs a Nerf, like always it has been an OP type for a while and resonance and other forms of conduction, like Electric, are what Steel should be weak too.

I say that Ice should get a Sound immunity and Psychic as well. Possibly even Bug or Grass. Sound is a special attackers type, largely. So this is a good chance to balance out more than one type again.

Nerfing fairies would be nice since they are weak to the "modern/industrial" type and lore wise avoid noisy areas and seek refuge away from cities, deep in forests and caves.

Psychic types should get immunity because it is a rehashed Cosmic type and some focus on mediation and absolute concentration.

Grass have been suggested to grow with sound and Bug, given access to plenty of sound moves hopefully, would utilize sound more than most and are characteristically impossibly loud for their size would at least merit a resistance

Dark types should become susceptible to them, following the logic of a guilty conscious or whatever sneakiness they possess being foiled.

Starting with Jigglypuff and ending in Noivern, the Sound type theory is a favorite of mine and could bring a reshape type chart that works. A lot would resist it, but it would also make a great attacking type alongside the likes of Rock, Ice and Electric Sp. sweeper builds
