Is there a single SMT game that doesn't crash and burn after the first half, balance-wise?

In the first half I always feel like I have to carefully manage my MP/money/cash, be judicious with exploring new demons' resistances, and carefully consider each fusion.

Then, there's always some broken POS fiend like smt4 alice or smt3 daisoujou that nulls everything and more, everything you fuse has Megido or better, and enemies just start reflecting/absorbing everything to compensate. Oh, and your MC has more MA/ST than god himself by then.

Why can't they ever stay fun?

Samael isn't actually immune to Fire, it only gains a repel to Dark attacks. Its weak to Electric.
The beauty of demon fusion is that with enough autism, you can chainfuse passive null/resist/reflect/drain skills for lots of elements.
Your best bet is Ground attacks honestly.

The fundamental flaw with SMT gameplay is that it's meant to be exploited and minmaxed. When you know exactly what you're doing and know how to take advantage of the systems once you have a decent skill pool in your demons and macca the game gets much easier.

That's a relief. Is it a bit further from Pralaya / Deadly Fury / Megidolaon spam than normal? At least DeSu/2 forced you to pick who got to cheese and which party members had to actually try.

I think what SMT could actually do with more demon slots and less spell slots per demon. Make me agonize on whether or not I should spend turns switching demons, and make me specialize each demon I fuse.
