That may have been an oversight. It surely wasn't intentional since Cofagrigus' name was banned from GTS in Gen V IIRC.

I mean, if The Pokémon Company was willing to change Emonga to Emolga (they never localize the names of Pikaclones) just because Emonga contains "mong" in it, they wouldn't have kept Incinerape.

Incineroar is infinitely better than Inferoar

I see that it's going for 'inferno' but without the 'o' part it reads like it's going for an 'infer' pun, which would lead one to think of thinking or intellegince, which doesn't fit the persona of the Pokemon.

It sounds autistic but that's the exact mindset the people who make these names have

Funnily enough, Froslass's name was actually taken into consideration for this reason, but they decided against it.

I'm sure no one will get upset over the words "lass" and part of the word "sarcophagus" spelled phonetically having the words "ass" and "fag" in them.
