Here's a very interesting theory I heard:

The next special will play with time. It's pretty obvious some things are happening in the past. Now look at the little girl. She looks almost exactly like Bonnie, same hair, same face, same pokemon, just about 1-2 years older, maybe enough to start her own journey. Reminder that this episode also includes zygarde which is very dear to Bonnie's character. If this is in fact a time skip (not enough to see obvious visual difference in any of the older characters like ash, Serena, Delia, oak, or TRio), I wonder how it'll affect the timeline of the series. There may be a possibility that these 1-2 years are enough for Serena to finish up her hoenn journey and join up with ash in Alola sooner than we thought. I get that this may be stretching a lot from one girl that looks like Bonnie but like Masuda said, the age of predictability in pokemon is over and XYZ47 definitely proved that.

Tonight's second preview may support or invalidate this theory

3 YEARS, It's been 3 years since I found out about Pokemon XY and Amourshipping! I decided to start lurking, reading more than thousand pages of posts in our first booming thread, and after that the second and third thread aswell. It's been an amazing ride, with massive ups and downs, not knowing where it would end. After I saw the previews of the last episode I was kinda afraid Serena would just accept Ash leaving her without knowing about her feelings. But the writers had the guts to actually do the impossible: Serena kissing Ash!! WE WON!

Eghem, sorry for my overreacting guys. I just want to thank you all for being an amazing community the last 3 years, with amazing topics, great arguments, and with respect towards other ships (and to much spam causing the downfall of our first thread xD). Last Tuesday, I checked this thread whenever there was a new post, but didn't really read them. I didn't know the most recent hints as the fansub I followed had some problems. The last episode I saw was the end of the battle for Kalos. And I was okay with this. I knew that Serena would leave, and I didn't know how they'd address the ship. As long as they did, I was a happy man.
I've been playing this Portuguese game on Steam, called Quest of Dungeons. It's fun. And NOT OFFTOPIC.

Last Wednesday, the same thing. I had been trying to get back into writing. Couldn't bring myself to do it.

I wake up on Thursday, and I thought, "Serena left." I check my phone, see a text from a friend about Robin from HIMYM going to Comic Con Portugal, and turn on Facebook. All I see are images of Serena, blushing, going down the stairs. I knew something had happened.
I get to the PC, go on Facebook and see the GIF of the kiss. I crashed. As in: anon.exe has stopped working. Error at memory address 0x4C4F5645. After a talk with my good friend, I managed to reboot, and wrote the little drabble on top of page 100.
Now, at this point in time, I only know that Serena kissed Ash, nothing else. But here's the twist.

At the end of every generation, we get the traditional "Next time, a new beginning!". We didn't this time. We got a mysterious "And to our own way." That, coupled with the lack of sound of that part of the clip, the only house we see lit up is Ash's, and now the secret Language of Flowers message, all of that gives me a feeling of uneasiness I find rather strange...
Oh, and now I can't play. I mean, I can, but I get the feeling I should be writing. And that's what I'm doing right now. Completing What Happens.

I am really glad for that snowball scene happening. It really drives a nail into the coffin of nay sayers who claim that Serena loves this perfect idea of Ash or something like that. She saw that he has faults there because of that. She still loves him as evidenced by the hints afterwards and the kiss, so indeed she is accepting that Ash isn't perfect and loves him as he is. I think that's quite a wonderful message to give to viewers. Amourshipping is quite nice in that respect; it really is full of positive themes.

Goodness, it feels as if we took up King Arthur's quest and searched until we finally recovered the holy grail that is the confession and the kiss scene. I think XYZ 47 will go down in Pokemon history. At least we can all rest assured that the writers weren't dropping Serena's feelings.

I've a question for everyone:Would it be going too far to say that Amourshipping has defeated the status quo?

I think it may have beaten the status quo a little as I think that Ash understands Serena and may even have some thoughts himself. He didn't react negatively (Shimmer in his eyes, a smile and his enthusiasm afterwards come across as positive to me.) and he hasn't been given a pretty much canon sign that the main female loves him before. This is a first for the show, a different ending to the series than what we've been given in the past.

I noticed the eye colours of these two "main characters" in the preview for the special episode have the same eye colour as Ash and Serena. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I am colourblind.) Could it even be that these characters are somehow meant to represent Ash and Serena or vice versa and there might be some love story between them? Potential Amourshipping references and/or foreshadowing, maybe. Could be interesting, I think.

I think Serena was from more to less subtle with each of her final interactions to Ash at the airport:

- "You are my goal" would be seen as "I want to become someone like you", taking all Amour issues apart.
- "I want to become more charming/attactive/better for you when we meet next time" goes less subtle but still subtle (side note: I think Clemont smiled in there because she got it as a "Better for you" statement; as part of the #Knows clique, Bonnie got it on a fully Amour context i.e. Become more attractive to him).
- "Ash, Can I have one last thing? [OhmyfreakingArceusShekissedhim.gif]" was something no subtle at all and gives a fully romantic context to what she said before (the collective surprise was because it was something that not even the most diehard shipper on the series would imagine to happen*)
- "Thank You [for letting me tell you what I feel about you, Ash y Boy]!": Say no more, all the previous things allowed me to add that to her final line.

To fully understand what Serena says, it's a bit harder than just translating from japanese to english, since usually a lot of context is taken out of those.

So basically, when Serena says "Motto motto miryokuteki no josei ni naru kara!" (which if roughly translated we got that attractive women thingy) it's sort of a reference to Satoshi's usual "Motto motto tsuyoku nareru!(I'll become much stronger!). When japanese people use that line though, you can never take it on face value alone, cause it usually means she wants to improve as a human being, that's why she doesn't put emphasis on being "a better performer" but rather, "a charming woman".

She said that as a follow up from saying "Ash, you're my goal" which means she wants to be someone like him, as she idolizes him. Hence why Clemont and Bonnie understand with the smile, cause Serena actually confesses to them (about idolizing him) during the Ash-Serena fight episode. This is the first time Ash hears it from Serena (despite being told an 'amazing person' often by her) so he's a bit taken a back with it, and then smile. In a way, yes, it feels like a confession that Ash would understand, cause Serena's wording is again, similar to Ash, using "watashi no mokuhyou" much like how Ash usually pronounce it using word "mokuhyou".

There was some sort of fuss about this in the episode thread cause people claiming the writers sexist or something, which is kinda silly. All you need is to understand how japanese culture and language is much complex and you can never translate them without missing the context a bit. So for people who used to watch a lot of japanese dramas or live there for sometime, it's easier to find these context.

I went back and watched XYZ047 again, without me only replaying 'that' scene. I manage to notice Serena had touched her ribbon that Ash had given her. She then said:
"Ash, I'm so happy that I went on this journey."
I thought it was pretty cool since it meant that she remembered her first date (it still counts as a date) with Ash and how she developed as a person.

I'm glad that the writers didn't decide for Serena to give up on Ash. I mean, he's the most important person in Serena's life and the real reason why she become who she is now.
You can't just simply forget that person so easily and give up on them especially with that much influence on her.

Anyways, on another note, when the writers told us to watch the whole series completely, was it supposed to be up until XYZ047 or did they also mean for us to "watch" the special episodes too.
After all, the XYZ series isn't technically finished yet. There might be something else hidden behind those tweets of theirs. Either that or I'm getting too suspicious of things.
