This

Or better yet GF would make a gay excuse like "seasons are unique to Unova" because obviously the rest of the Pokémon world lacks seasons.
>>
>>29577553
i think seasons just for kalos (or not if the 4 parts of the map work as each season, north is autumn, south is spring, east is winter and west is summer), kanto and johto (ecruteak always autumn). i think sinnoh can be like always winter, hoenn and alola always summer.
>>
Because playing the game in a summer setting makes it look way better than the greyish winter one.
>>
>>29577615
Gamefreak hates putting effort into things these days.

Game Freak is purposefully ignoring Gen 5 at this point. They even removed Triple and Rotation Battles from SM to hammer it in.

It makes me sad, I like Gen 5 a lot more than what's come after it even if it wasn't my favorite. SM is sucking XY's dick so hard and brought pretty much every major feature from there (even though it left out Dexnav, the only actually god-tier feature of Gen 6) but Gen 5 gets nothing.
>>
>>29577553
Let's be honest - the way seasons were implemented was cumbersome, stood in the way of immersion, and made it so you would need to wait months just to get to some area where you could get one unique item. The concept was executed extremely poorly, and it's no shock it's gone for good now.

If they brought seasons back, I'd hope they'd give them a more reasonable impact, and make them match up to your IRL season.
>>
Take it from a guy that lived on Hawaii for 3 years.

There are no seasons in Hawaii.

somehow i think this is just gf's way to make each gen 'unique' by not building upon the last generation and instead opting to remove features, get a negative response, and bring them back to appease the hype fags (see berries)
>>
>>29577725
>the way seasons were implemented made it so you would need to wait months just to get to some area where you could get one unique item
>If they brought seasons back, I'd hope they'd give them a more reasonable impact, and make them match up to your IRL season.

You want to fix the wait time for seasonal change by increasing the wait time for season change?
>>
there's no seasons where i live. they need to implement this just in some regions
>>
>>29577553
Hawai'i is on the tropics, where they don't have the SAWS seasons.
Just dry and wet seasons.
>>
>>29577762
No, I want them to make it so you aren't locked out of areas because of the season.

Seasons should have a similar effect to time of day. Slightly affect what Pokemon show up, affect what minor NPCs show up. That's it. No locking the player out of an area because they picked the wrong time to start playing.
>>
>>29577725
I can't think of a way to implement seasons without it being annoying. At least with day and night, you only wait a few hours for what you want instead of an entire month.
>>
Because it wasn't a feature that factored into anyone's single player experience since people are going to finish the story in less than a month, and it didn't factor into players who played the long-term either, since they just go back into the game to go circles on a bicycle every now and then.

It would be nice if they gave Sawsbuck its own timer for when its form changes, but I imagine there must be some logistical nightmare to coding it.
>>
>>29577752
>See berries
And only berries. Nothing but berries, berries galore. Berries here, there, and everywhere.
As a matter of fact the only reason why they reintroduced berries in ORAS was because of Pokeblocks correlating to contests. Otherwise I wouldn't have thought they'd reintroduce them, let alone the contests themselves.
>which are still pretty shitty and gimmicky
>>
I think the reason why Kalos didn't have season was because the region had Laverre City and Route 15 ( Autumn ), Snowbelle, Frost Cavern and Route 17 ( Winter ) etc...
>>
>>29577638
Shit opinion detected. Probably a butthurt Shangahifaggot.
>>
>>29577725
>and make them match up to your IRL season.

That's dumb, and so is the 1months timing for the simple reason that you usually finish the game in one month
One that regard, Kalos pacing had it right (Spring when you start your journey, summer when you reach the coast, autumn when you reach the North, winter when you reach the East and back to spring when you reach the league).
The only issue is that the seasons are fozen in each places which breaks the immersion when backtracking or during the post game

Triple/Rotation battles were most likely removed due to system lag.

Gen 5 honestly just didn't introduce any game-changing features. It mostly tweaked things for better optimization.
>>
>>29577879
That would be a great way to handle it in the future. Make the seasons initially rotate at story points, then have them schedule based after clearing the league.

This. I'm sick of seeing the same Kanto mons over and over again.
BW at least gave us a break from the same shit we've seen for four gens straight at that point; something new to try, even if they were alternate interpretations or counterparts of Kanto mons.

Triple/rotation were probably removed because of lag problems. Believe me, they'd better make a return.

Y'all seem to be forgetting Gen 5 introduced the beloved HAs mechanic. And Scald.
>>
>>29579159
Are HA really a mechanic? It's just adding abilities to pokemon, except now they're annoying to get.

What's gonna happen to it in gen VIII?
>>
>>29579176
I'd say they are a worthy mechanic. Same as with natures and IVs. I think they're less annoying to obtain.
>>
I don't know why GF couldn't program Sawsbuck's form to change depending where you are in Kalos.
>>
>>29579203
It just seems kinda arbitrary to call it a new mechanic. D/P added new abilities for some mons but people don't call that a mechanic. For HAs, the only difference is that you have to get it in some silly way like grottoes, Friend Safari or a special distribution.

As much as I hate it, I can't really blame Gamefreak for backpedaling after gen V. All that effort made to move the series forward instead of stagnating. And the response to it is all the manbabies crying because they can't catch their precious Machamps and Charizards.
>>
>>29577824
Or they could introduce a season themed legendary that changes the season temporarily from the irl season to allow access to more areas, each season having new or restricted areas rather than winter being the only remarkable one. Basically LoZ Seasons
>>
>>29579265
You do know you just need a female Pokemon with its HA and you can breed it down, correct?
Abilities are still a mechanic overall though. It affects your gameplay and strategy.
>>
>>29579224
>couldn't
This implies they ever even thought of it.
>>
>>29577553
Cuz it's retarded

Re-Re

Retarded
>>
>>29579299
I know that, but you still need to get the mon in that silly way in the first place. Contrary Serperior wasn't a legal thing until midway through gen 6 when they finally gave it to you.
>>
>>29577865
They could have done to Deerling and Sawsbuck what they did to Burmy and its forms (changing formes at the end of a battle depending on the place you battled)
>>
>>29579267
I'm grateful that GF bit the bullet and tried something new for one generation. Even if it didn't work out for the majority, Gen 5 is my favorite generation. It streamlined battling, making it faster, and made subtle changes that were perfect and much-needed (infinite-use TMs, being asked if you want keep using repel after it wears off)
>>
>>29579350
True. Getting a Tyrunt with its HA wasn't easy either. But thank god for GTS.
>>
>>29579319
To be fair, these are the same chuckleheads that didn't even put Tropius, solrock, Lunatone or Bellossom in the Alola regional dex.
>>
>>29577553
Hawaii is basically going through summer all-year round. The only thing that changes is the tides and whales.
>>
Btw, can someone go bug Masuda's twitter and ask him why the Pokemon listed here (>>29579387) aren't in the regional dex? It's still driving me crazy. I just wanted to roam the alolan islands with my giant banana tree not-dragon grass/flying bro.
>>
>>29577553

New York and the American east coast are renowned for their seasons. France, and especially Hawaii, not so much. They did have areas in Kalos that corresponded to pretty much every season, though.
>>
>>29579183
All they really need to do is treat them like Shellos in upcoming generations and have the different forms show up in different locations (winter in snowy areas, spring in flower fields, Summer in forests, autumn in mountains). It sucks that only Spring Deerling is catchable in gen 6.
>>
>SOL for up to 3 months on catching that cubchoo or cryagonal you need
>same for collecting items
I know the deerling stuff was cool, but seasons gave me more problems than they did enjoyment, and they should've been shorter
>>
>>29577553
I remember they always would mess up on which season it was.

"I don't think that it's summer around here!" I'd always say.
>>
>>29577717
>As someone who loves Gen 5, this is actually very wrong. Apart from seasons and triple/rotations, literally everything in game is a continuation of gen 5 and it tries to ignore gen 6 as much as possible, beyond the EXP Share, PokeRide, Pokemon Refresh, and Customization. All things that have a place in the series but couldn't be done properly in XY. So far, we got:
Gen 5 EXP Scaling
Go Ichinose compositions being an evolution of gen 5s style, including an abundance of vocals in the music tracks.
Join Avenue-Funfest Mission online Hub
Further breaking of traditions and how storytelling should be done in Pokemon
Pokemon design is very reminiscent of Gen 5s, were as Gen 6 felt a bit more traditional in its approach and artstyle, were Alola is the next logical step in Unova design philosophy.

Call me a gamecuck, but seasons(despite being one of my favorite things)might be a bit too hard to implement now that the series has gone 3D, as the OW isn't as simple as say, something like Animal Crossing. Another thing, is that Unova is one of the most climate neutral regions, you can slap winter or fall, or summer all over it, but for climate inclined regions like Alola, which is tropical, it might beharder or a bit disjointed to represent Winter in it.
>>
>>29577845
>It would be nice if they gave Sawsbuck its own timer for when its form changes, but I imagine there must be some logistical nightmare to coding it.

The title cards for the seasons in BW1/BW2 were terrible, Japan had nice ones but TPCi fucked it up. Should've just replaced the kanji with a symbol of some sort--maybe a tree in a cycle of cherry blossoms, leafy, leaves falling, empty branches--and kept the English title card already there.
>>
If they're lazy, why not they just make Sawsbuck and Deerling change based on environment?
>>
>>29577615
Pretty much the best excuse you could use for the gaming industry in general at this point

That and they want more money.
>>
>>29577553
They like to keep things isolated to a specific generation so the presence of them in the remakes can be a selling point.
