Except English grammatical rules prescribe a plural mark for the majority of the words, either by adding -[E]S (apples, tomatoes) or by umlaut (geese, feet). Those rules apply to borrowings too, since you only borrow the root - not the grammatical function.

So bitching against people who write "pokemons" in English is as silly as bitching against Japanese speakers who say "I have two walkman", Portuguese speakers who say "I have two spare computer mouses" or shit like that.

BTW this applies to "manga" and "anime" too.
