Pikachu was always the mascot, or at least when pokemon actually released it was. Yeah some were considered like clefairy but pikachu was always who gamefreak throught would be the star. It's fine by me, all I hope is a cameo or scene or role every once in awhile. It is interesting that around gen 1 it seemed quite pushed, in my opinion I feel poliwhirl has a pretty good "mascot appeal".

I don't like middle evos or LC mons that much. Most of my top favorites will solely consists of FEs.

That said, Magneton is my favorite non-evolved bro. I think the direction Magnezone went in was good, but the design is no longer appealing to me.

Poliwrath is such a fucking disgrace. Awful movepool, awful stats, slower than Poliwhirl and ruins the design by making it bulkier.

And Politoed looks retarded.

I wish they gave Poliwhirl at least a decent movepool and +10 SpA.

Poliwhirl is my favorite pokemon as well. Personally I like the whole poli line a lot though I see why you don't like either of the evolutions. Personally I preffer poliwhirl since I don't like the bulkiness or constantly angry look of poliwrath. As a kid I didn't care for politoed but I've grown to like it more. I think all of them look good, however I feel poliwhirl is the perfect balance of cute(poliwag), cool(poliwrath), and goofy(politoed).

I can't explain why, but Politoed actually makes me physically I'll when I look at it, especially the shiny. It's not a personal preference thing, it's just sort of a reflex, I guess.

I remember I caught a shiny Poliwag in SS and later traded it over to White. I evolved it into Politoed because le weather meta game face. But whenever I looked at it I legitimately felt like I was about to vomit.

I never used it on any of my teams and eventually released it.
