its the bubble
>>

Sure, why not?
>>
For fuck's sake it's NOT BACKWARDS. Why in the hell would they make TWO backwards spiders? ANSWER ME
>>
>>29553167
It is possible, however there still stands the fact that it might not be. Many insects don't follow this "limbs on the thorax rule", like beetles.

Honestly we won't know until it we learn more about him, or the game gets released.
>>
>>29553226
Why not? Also Ariados and Galvantula don't have a backwards gimmick.
>>
>>29553167
Bubble butt spider.
>>
I saw from previous theead a lot of posts praising Lurantis' design. Wht exactly is so creative about it though?
>>

Spiders don't have a thorax you fuck.

I can't figure it out either. Perhaps the fact that it looks like it's wearing striped trousers from the 70s?

But the triangular part is clearly in the bubble too.

HOLLY SHIT this was already debunked by the pre-evo itself, no need for speculations unless you keep it civilised
>>
>>29553167
Are you retarded? The whole point of the bubble is so that the spider can breathe underwater. Of course it covers the head, otherwise there's no point.

Never seen the spider up close like this before, always assumed the red marks were it's eyes.
>>
>>29553563
A headcanon. No where does it says Wobbufet's tail is its real body, just "a secret" which could mean a second brain or just a very weak spot.
>>
>>29553167

It's entirely possible, but putting the bubble on the abdomen would be way too confusing for children. They would have put the bubble on the head.

Also...and I can't stress this enough, what the fuck would an underwater spider need to be defending itself from?

And why would they have the pokemon facing bakwards? with no way of seeing it's face?
>>
>>29553371
It's the opposite of an orchid mantis.
>>
>>29553167
Damn, I thought it was weird that the legs were behind its head/back. It made it look really awkward thinking that as if it was facing forward.

Technically spinarak has a false face on its abdomen. The irl version has one, but it wouldn't help as a false eyespot against birds or Hawaiian face huggers. Just a coincidental pattern that looks like a face on its butt.

The thing that bothers me most about most of these posters is they don't understand how bubbles work.

The perspective is clearly from behind, we see the bubble on the spider's abdomen, and we see the head THROUGH the bubble, not IN the bubble

The problem is the legs, The legs could not be coming out of a bubble, they'd pop the bubble the second locomotion came into play, simply moving its legs would tear the bubble and it'd have to blow/create another one.

Ergo, the bubble is exclusively on the abdomen and does not pass it's center, or its head.

>>29553371
Sudowoodo is a Rock type that looks like a Grass type so people get fooled into not using Water type moves on it.
Lurantis is a Grass type that looks like a Bug type so Rock types are fooled into attacking it. In reality Lurantis is the hunter and the Rock types are its prey.
>>
>>29553371
It's a reverse flower mantis. A flower mantis is a bug that looks like a flower to lure in and eat other bugs. Lurantis is a flower that looks like a bug to lure in and eat(?) rock types.
>>
>>29554305
I'd think it was pollination or something. Also ground types. Could explain alolan marowak' description.
>>
>>29554338
>>>29553371
>Flower mantis

It's Orchid.
>>
I hope this guy has usable stats for in game, its design is way too good to pass.
>>
>>29553486
No it wasn't.
>>
>>29553599
>m-muh Pokemon definitely isn't exactly like the real life animal becoz I said so!
>>
>>29553167
Anon go look at a Spider. They have a cephalotorax (no neck) from which their legs are born and an abdomen. The body scheme of a Spider would actually only work on an ant.
>>
>>29554300
It is a reverse wate spider, anon. It holds a drop of water together with pokemon-magic and uses it to breathe in the surface. Look at its place in the pokedex. It hangs out with land pokemon.
>>
>>29554386
I'm suspecting that it'll be really good, and here's why:

It's a spider, so it'll have access to sticky web, which alone is enough to make it OU viable.
It probably has good defensive stats. It likely forms a version exclusive pair with the anemone, and these pairs tend to have similar stats.
Based on the design, it's very likely to have intimidate as an ability. This works very well with defensive stats.
It's water type so it'll have access to scald, which can further lower the opponents attack.

It's going to be a great sticky web lead and a physical wall.
>>
>>29554514
>The body scheme of your "spider" would work on an ant, not a spider.
Sorry. Fixed.
>>
>>29554537

I said in game but thanks for support anyway.
>>
>>29553435
they're hakama, because lurantis is obviously japanese themed
>>
>>29554637
Everything is viable in game.
>>
>>29554723
Maybe, but you'll go through hell to beat the game with a team of 6 Unown.
>>
>>29554563
>>29554514
not at all, the cephalothorax is obviously the mass just behind the head which is also were the legs attach, just like a normal spider.(i mean sans it missing legs) Also no spider has an abdomen smaller than its cephalothorax, which is what would be the case if the face wasn't a falseface.
>>
>>29553167
Jeez, over analyzing much?
It's just a spider with a big head. It has the bubble on its face to make the "diving" aspect more obvious.
Should be mentioned they did take a note from real spiders, by adding the three smaller eyes on top.
>>
>>29554876
>Getting tricked by a spider.
Sad!
>>
>>29554876
>Those

They're shell shockers
>>
>>29554797
While that's true, let's not forget this is Pokemon we're taking about which don't always follow the laws of nature we know and can do whatever they want. And there's also another possibility:
they're aliens
>>
>>29554797
>not at all, the cephalothorax is obviously the mass just behind the head which is also were the legs attach, just like a normal spider.(i mean sans it missing legs)
At least one of its legs is clearly coming from the body mass in the front of the creature in the OP.

>Also no spider has an abdomen smaller than its cephalothorax, which is what would be the case if the face wasn't a falseface.
Pic related is a water spider and its abdomen is roughly the same size as its cephalotorax.
>>
>>29554510
No. It's because the design says so.

And while I had to look specifically for spiders with particularly small abdomens, there are some that do.
>>
>>29555121
Yes, the design that is obviously facing away from you.
>>
>>29555185
>obviously

No.
>>
>>29555097
All the legs clearly attach to the part behind the creature.
>>
>>29555210
Unless its right legs have yet another articulation, it is impossible that they could attach to the thing in the back.
Unless the left legs have a random change of color at some arbirary point near the spider's body, we can see the front left leg joining the front part of the spider's body.

>>29555356

It doesn't. People are just being retarded and think the Pokemon has to have the same anatomy as the real spider.
