I'm jacking a friends copy of Pokemon White. Is this game XY or ORAS shit tier, or is it DP shit tier? I can deal with DP shit tier, but I can not deal with ORAS shit tier again. I'll probably nuzlocke it too, but I'll hold onto legendaries because I need to complete my dex.

Playing Platinum, beat Byron and just went through the Iron Islands. Team is Empoleon, Gliscor, Toxicroak, and Tangela. I want to add an ice type eventually but I'm torn between Froslass or Weavile.

Any suggestions for what I do in Soulsilver? I'm about to challenge Clair but most of my team is around level 37-38. Where can I grind so I'm not underlevelled for the Elite 4?

Yeah, all the Pokemon available at the time of BW are obtainable in-game. Trade evolutions become regular evolutions at like 40 something, and trade item evolutions just become usable items. The difficulty is definitely amped. The Pokemon that trainers use are more diverse, and they usually have good movesets.

The full potential isnt reached until after you finished Kanto, but there are still a few trainers you can call each day to get some extra battles in. And they all get bumped to level ~35. You will find yourself going to Glitter Lighthouse a lot, I got called by a sailor there, beat him and was called immediately after leaving for another battle.

They had sprites but the overworld is mostly 3D models. Camera angle changes couldnt happen in a sprite based game. Stuff like how the world shifts when you enter Sprout Tower or Sky Arrow Bridge being examples.

It's a little annoying how when DP came out people say "finally the games are in 3D." Then when XY came out people said "finally the games are in 3D" and it's happening again with people calling SM the first 3D pokemon game

I actually dont think the overworld in Gen 6 is much different than 5 honestly, outside just replacing sprites with models. Gen 5 already has a tonne of camera changes despite the sprites.

I do agree that Gen 5 looks better than 6 and I really wonder what the series could have been like with super detailed sprites over the 3D models. I dont mind the jump overall though

I think gen 6 had the worst combination of overworld and models. Still pretty stiff but with ugly 3D models. The new games seem to be better but keeping the awful models... Overall it's still a huge improvement though.But then you look at Alolan Persian and I can't help but think it would've been cool as a sprite

The over-world of Alola looks good (though not different enough from Kalos for my tastes, I liked how every region looked different in the DS era)

But the character models just dont give me hope. The walking and running look of the MC just doesnt look good. And feels slow. And there is barely any emotion. That is going to take me right out of most cutscenes

Just beat the Elite Four in Randomized White.

Not in a run but for you hoes who need a good grind before the elite 4 or the 8th gym, get waterfall and go up the waterfall on the safari gate route. There's a patch of grass full of high level milktanks, dittos, and other mons that are perfect for grinding.

I'm not playing any of them but I want to play one of them before SM are released, since I've only played Pt and each Gen V game once not wanting to lose my saves (computer can't emulate DS Pokémon games; almost every other DS game runs at full speed but not Pokémon).

Thanks to 3DS hacking I can back up my saves now, so I just need to decide which to play. I don't want to play BW2 without replaying BW1, so which should it be? Platinum or White 1?

I finally installed the program that lets you back up DS game saves with a CFW 3DS, so I decided to replay White 1 now that I don't have to lose my old save, since Unova is the only region I haven't revisited this year yet and unlike BW2 which I adore I never really liked BW1 and want to be able to articulate my opinions more clearly on it like my other replays this year have let me. Actually tried replaying Black 1 some months ago on my flash card, but the thing bricked on me at some point.

Just hit Castelia this run. Team is currently Servine, Roggenrola, Munna which I'm not sure if I should use the Moon Stone on yet, Tranquil, Venipede, and a Cubchoo I traded over from my White 2. Roggenrola, Venipede, and Tranquil may be rotated out later.

The whole game is pretty slow in pacing from my memory. Menus and such are nice and smooth, and battles are possibly the fastest in the series, but the pacing event to event and the spread of encounters are excruciating.

Just recently I picked up pearl, white 1, x and 3ds ruby on the same day.

I couldn't finish pearl I got pissed off after wasting berries and couldn't evolved feebas so just about 5 minutes ago I put in white.

Fuck Pearl I eventually got bored, maybe because I'm really keen to play the 3ds games but what the fuck is up with the graphics for pokemon black. This is a let down considering it's my first play through.

So yea, still excited to play the 3ds games for the first time but pearl was disappointing and black's graphics have shocked me somewhat but I'm only a few minutes through.

Should I continue or just go straight to the 3ds games?

I'm from aus, I was only lucky to be able to pick up pearl and white 1. X and Omega Ruby are still in stock.

I have the earlier generations emulated. 1 - 3, red / green, liquid crystal, won't need to play hoenn because of the 3DS one I picked up.

So now can play every generation which has me excited. But pearl was a bit of a let down and was too eager to try the other games, white so far I dislike the graphics but I'll give it a go. Hopefully it's worth while giving it a go.
