I actually agree with this. They should either look neutral or have gender differences depending on what they're based on. Like, say, if there were a peacock Pokemon, the male would obviously look more elaborate to reflect the real life peacock, while the female version would just resemble a peahen. Pokemon based on real life things with no gender variation should look more neutral unless looking "overly feminine" is a defining trait of the real life thing it's based on. All this goes double for starters. The fact that mermen and other such aquatic beings exist make Popplio an oddball. I'm not too fussed about it anymore though; it's grown on me a little bit.

I definitely see where everyone is coming from. It doesn't look entirely feminine like Primarina. But still, it does look more feminine than it does manly. And it takes basically nothing to trigger /vp/. If it's not a manly Pokemon for manly men such as themselves then it's shit.

Tru. I never cared because it always looked androgynous. It has neither overly masculine or feminine features. It was easily one of the most androgynous starters, even if furries like to project some semblance of womanhood onto it. It looks sorta regal in a old European way, when men wore frills and fancy lacey bits. It's got feminine traits but not to the point of overpowering the neutrality.

This is coming from a guy who's attracted to traps, as well.

Serperior has always reminded me of a vampire and vampires are traditionally male. It has a rather devilish and cunning personality, and it has leaves in the shape of horns on top its head and the shape of a cape around its neck. All vampire-like traits.

Serperior isn't really feminine. It's modeled after European (mainly French) royalty, fitting with the other starters of its gen being Chinese (Emboar), and Japanese (Samurott).

Incineroar and Primarina, however, are about as stereotypically masculine and feminine as a Pokemon can get. One is a buff wrestler that shoots fire from its belt, and the other is a mermaid with long hair.

Which I don't mind; we've had masculine (Emboar and Samurott) and feminine (Braixen) starters before, but I can see why some would be put off.
