Let's rate, hate and comment eachother's team here.

I tried buiding a team with just my favorites, which happen to all be really good. I'm not sure about my Tyranitar's role though. Any recommendations ?
>>
>>29541956
Milotic is MUCH more annoying with Dragon Tail over Toxic. It prevents people from setting up in its face to kill it, lets you rack up stealth rock damage, and helps you win stall wars.
Seriously Dragon Tail Milotic is a pain the ass that is matched only by Roar Suicune.
>>
>>29541956
For the Tyranitar, I think you should make it bulkier since you're not going Scarf. Chople is nice but I can see you pulling off a Weakness Policy set better. Or if Gengar is your dedicated Gengar answer, I guess Chople is fine to check it.

Scizor wants a Bug move, otherwise you're going to get walled by Slowbro which is pretty sad.

Milotic seems fine, but I'd go Competitive to try and exploit Defog or Intimidate users.

You should make Weavile Pickpocket, so you can make that your Knock Off switch-in, since Pickpocket will jack whatever's Knocking Off. I've used that to steal Lando-T's Scarves many times to help other mons pull off a sweep.

Your Togekiss probably wants to be physically defensive to deal with things like Lando-T's Stone Edge since that's your Defogger.
>>
>>29542005
That's a really good idea.
I won't have any Toxic user though, would that be okay ? My only status spreader is Togekiss.
>>
Threadly reminder that if you have genies on your team you should consider suicide.
>>
>>29542046
Joke's on you, I only have one on my team.
>>
>>29542046
And if you play UU, then "genies" refers to Suicune and Rotom instead.
>>
>>29542087
kill yourself
>>
>>29541956
Sand stream on Ttar is going to hurt a team like this. That and you should use a defensive spread for setting up rocks.
Why the fuck do you not have fire blast on Volcarona? Don't rely on gimmick shit over guaranteed power. Also Bug Buzz is worth consideration over HP.
Ditch superpower and get bug bite on Scizor. You really underestimate bug coverage.
Like the rest have said, dragon tail breaks stalls better than toxic.
Pressure is a shit ability. go for the HA.
Togekiss is fine, but I personally look down on teams that don't pass item clause.
>>
>>29542118
Nope too late, you said "genies on your team". I win.
>>
>>29542019
You're right about the Ttar. I'll make it bulkier, even if I'll take my time to dicide what it'll be. It has to stay in the team though.

I'll give Bug Bite to Scizor.

For Milotic I intend to make it a burn absober so Marvel Scale is necessary. I think I'll just take out Ive Beam which is not really necessary here. I'll give it Toxic instead.

You're right too about Weavile, I didn't notice it had Pressure.

I'll make Togekiss defensive too. I have enough specially defensive mons anyway.
>>
>>29542046
but lando does so many roles well it would be stupid to not use him just because he is a genie. If it fits a need on your team whats the problem with using genies?
>>
>>29542123
You're right about Ttar. And I'll make it bulkier. I intended to make it scarf at the beginning, but that would be useless and I didn't change the EV spread.

I'll try Fire Blast

As I answered to anon before, I'll give Scizor Bug Bite

I agree about the rest. I'm pretty anal about the item clause too, I'll try to change it too if I find a better alternative.

It's pretty much a "no fun allowed" mon used by tryhards who look for the surest way to win and who only care about their win/loss ration instead of having fun creating interesting strategies, gimmicks and memes.

I can't give a detailed review, but at first sight I think you need one more physical attacker. Landorus is not enough. And you might try giving Heat Wave to your Pidgeot. I don't know if Refresh is really worth it.

Your team seems OK. You don't really need Crobat as a defensive switch-in, but you need that ground immunity and defogger, so keep it. It's never really a bad choice.

Im still a beginner in Competitive Battling but i have any Other Ghost Mon but i dont know any sets for them.
>>
>>29544319
The Cofagrigus is okay
The Gengar too, but Psychic is useless. Give it Dazzling Gleam instead
The Golurk is a complete mess. Give it Earthquake, an elemental Punch and another item. Maybe Rock Polish if you want to.
That Chandelure will never work. Don't give it a choice item if you plan to give it status moves. If you choice it, use 3 attacks + Trick. Also, I recommend Choice Scarf over Choice Specs.
Trevenant looks OK.

You should get a Sableye as your last mon since you have a horrible Dark weakness. The mega will give you a much needed defensive backbone.

Here's my mono-bug. It works pretty well, but it becomes really hard to get any progress when I reach 1600 with it.
>>
>>29544484
Very good in viability.
Way too much cancer legends though, but I won't judge on that. Good taste in regular mons at least.
>>
>>29542365
>chople ttar without coverage for the bait
dont do that
chople is specifically for baiting things in with ttar coverage and eliminating them, you should run calcs on specific threats that run focus blast and ev to survive them
bug bite on scizor is bad, knock off/superpower is ideal and youll want enough speed to outpace standard heatran if youre running superpower
consider rest on milotic since you have mediocre status sponge without it and its hella bulky during sleep turns (and also works well with heal bell on toge if you go that route)
poison jab on weavile isnt going to do a lot to deal with azu
and you should probably redo toge, its niche as a stallbreaker far outweighs any other gimmick and it wants np for that, probably over twave
and defog is just plain bad on something thats rocks weak, you might want to find another way to keep rocks off the field if youre that worried about that
>>
>>29544828
This team is just a team where I try to shove all my favorites so I have to make some concessions.
About Togekiss, I'll try the NP set. What's the 4th move on it ?
I know Knock Off works well on Scizor, I'll probably switch to it. Superpower changes the set quite a it but I might try it.
Rest might be a good idea, I'll try it too, even if I prefer to run Recover and not rely on RNG.
Poison Jab is shit I agree, I'll probbaly run Low Kick just to shit on Heatran. Or Pursuit depending on what I do with Ttar.
Finally I admit I have no Idea what to do with Tyranitar, it's a must stay in my team but I don't know if I should keep it as support or choice it. It could even serve as a Dragon Dancing mega, but then I'll use a Choice Band on Scizor.

Thanks for the input btw

>>
>>29544319
Golurk really can't abuse no guard that great. Make it iron fist and give it ghost punch for STAB and ice punch for coverage. Also give it EQ.
>>
>>29545004
toge can run heal bell, aura sphere or razzledazzle depending on what you want to deal with
aura/dazzle are for fucking up common checks, heal bell is for boosting in the face of anything status reliant (namely chansey who you can straight up kill at +6 with decent flinch proc)
it can also run fire blast if you really need it but your team isnt hurting facing steels for the most part so you probably dont

superpower is good for dealing with heatran specifically so you dont have to lose the boosts since it dies at +2 even with max bulk, but knock off can more readily cripple what comes in regardless as long as you know when not to boost
i think rest is an underrated move personally even without sleep talk, especially on a pivot that gets a def boost for status but ill admit its a nonstandard choice so its fine to ignore if youre not comfortable with it
and yeah jab i dont like, ideally youll just want to knock on the switch so it cant drum freely then just bring in scizor, low kicks just generally better coverage against non-azumarill things
i do like the idea of an antilead ttar, sand fucks up sashes and chople can guarantee you both rocks up and your most ready check dead, but youll need to experiment on ladder a bit and see what gives you the most trouble turn 1 and how youd like to play around it, ttar has a lot of options
>>
>>29542046
This.
>>
>>29545284
oh and i forgot try safety goggles on volc, it allows it to come in on spore/powder for free while seriously threatening everything that carries it, and as a bonus it also ignores sand tick
>>
>>29542046
t. bottom ladder player who can't succeed in ou or battle spot or vgc
>>
>>29545228
It's pretty okay. Focus Punch might not be great on Brewood though. Try Rock Tomb.
And that Magnezone is pretty gimmicky. You're not going to tank much special hits with it, and you already have Tentacruel for that. Run a scarf on it IMHO.

>>29545107
My pleasure. Mono-ghost is a pretty average mono since there are very few ghost types to work with. And there are no good physical attacker. I used to run a mono-ghost too some time ago, with almost the same mons since the choice is limited. But back then Aegislash was allowed for ghost teams so that made it way easier
>>
>>29545532
Assult vest hasn't been useful yet ( I think i tanked one SE hit with it) I just feel safer without the choice lock. will replace Focus punch though. I haven't found a use for it at all yet

As another anon has pointed out, Sand Stream on Tyranitar just doesn't work for this team, as opposing Sand Rush Excadrills body you once Milotic is gone. I would also run Ice Beam over Earthquake (standard set, I know - just any coverage move because Earthquake doesn't really hit anything I can think of) to force lead Landos out. In general, you're very weak to the standard Charizard Y-BandTar core (with Excadrill). Since you're trying to build with your favourites, I don't really know what to do about that - maybe Low Kick>Poison Jab, since Scizor and Volcarona with Lum can take care of Clef, on Weavile to lure Tyranitars?

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll change my team accordingly. As you said the TTAR can be a good lead, maybe with Ice Beam like >>29546448 said. I know I'll have fun working with it. I never used Unnerve, I can try. And Low Kick on Weavile is decided.
>>
>>29546611
The thing is there is always a better option. Monotype teams always focus first on dealing with every single threat to them, and God knows mono-bug has many problems.
Assault Vest Armaldo works surprisingly well
>>
>>29546468
>>29546435
Your team seems really well-rounded so I can'tell say much. I would recommend using better mons than Bronzong, Roserade and Goodra but I guess you want to use them specifically.
Maybe remove Giga Drain and Extrasensory and give Leaf Storm and Sleep or Para Spore.
>>
>>29547380
Roserade is so useful againts stall teams once Chansey falls, with its coverage he can do 0HKO or 2HKO to Skarmory, Quagsire, Amoongus, Clafairy, Tangrowth, Slowbro, Ferrotorn, Rotom wash, etc. Gigadrain helps to recover the 100% HP for the focus sash after stealth rock. Goodra is always a safe switch against the most of the special attackers and is a good mixed attacker. Bronzong is the one I would replace but i not sure, it walls very well to Scarf landorus T, offensive garchomp and sand rush excadrill but it can do anything against szicor, mega medichamp, mega charizard x and Bisharp (this one if is already boosted). A good physical wall than you recommend? Tank chomp, landorus T and gliscor gets OHKO from weavile its because I don't use they.

Newbie to competitive shit here.

What are general rules of thumb for building a team? I know you tend to have a lead, a utility, a defensive pokemon, a sweeper, but where does it branch out from there?

Should I bother building a team around tiers? Or just use what pokemon I like?
>>
>>
>>29551494
>gentle blissey
lost it
>>
>>29551199
Try to find a pokémon for each role depending on the type of team you want. Choose mons that fit well together and don't have too many shared weaknesses.
You can perfectly use pokémons you like but obviously if they're shitmons it's going to be hard. But you don't have to use only OU or UU mons at all. A lot of top player teams have one or two uncommon pokémons.. That's how unused pokemons like Tangrowth suddely became OU. Don't hesitate in searching in lower tiers for a mon if you think it'll fit your team.
