Type combos. In two or three gens they will run out of unique type combos and the games/types themselves will start feeling stale with alomost nothing new being brought to the table anymore. Yes you have stuff like Z-moves or Mega Evolution, but when it comes to the games, making new and exiting pokemon is top priority and when you have new mons that have the same type combo repeated 5 or 6 times, it really looses the surprise factor.

As for possible new types, Cosmic would definetly be the one with highest possibility, you have already mons that can fall into the category and there's a lot of themes you can do with space from extraterrestrialst to planets and all the crazy phenomenons happening in deep space. Imagine a mon based on a black hole or a Quasar or a neutron star or a alien virus stuck in a comet.
