Kanto girls are still some of my favorites. I don't tend to have fond memories with everyone else because they're kind of just there. I don't like Gym Leaders that much, they just feel like generic bosses you have to overcome. Made the Unova gym leaders a breath of fresh air, but in the end they really need better character

Johto's Fighting and Ice leaders

All of gen 4and 6 except skater chick cause her lucario lusted after you for a third of the game.

The gym leaders of those games were the lowest of lows.

I think gen 6's issue is it was the first 3d gen so things had to be paired back for space. In gen 5 not only do they gym leaders all do something in their town they also help you tke on team plasma.

Gen 5 is the only Gen where pretty much every Gym Leader had multiple out-of-gym encounters and played a role in the story.

You can argue Gen 2/4 had a bit of this, and the Phone-Call meet ups were nice, but Gen 5 was when they REALLY hammered down the Gym Leaders as characters, giving every single one of them a sub-plot and focus in the games. This has not happened again since.

To name just a few;

>Clay taking you to the Pokémon Shelter
>Roxie's argument with her father, and her team-up with you to fight Plasma
>Brycen being a movie star
>Every Leader showing up at the E4 in BW
>Iris going on to become Champion

Not to mention the fact that Memory Link added entire cutscenes dedicated to the Gym Leaders, such as Skyla/Elesa's sleepover, the Straiton brothers fighting the Shadow Trio, ect.

The only way you could possibly not know the names of the Gym Leaders of this region, including one who went on to be the fucking Champion, is if you have never played the game. And yes I am dead serious, the fact that you claim not to remember any of these Leaders is enough for me to know you didn't touch Gen 5.

If you wanted to bait and shitpost, you should have done a little research about the games. If anything you could have criticized that the games shoved the Gym Leaders in your face. I'm sure someone could have fallen for that. But forgettable? You'd have to be a fucking idiot to believe you.

-Falkner does a disservice to Flying types by being the first/EZ mode Gym Leader with no skill wall to overcome, unless you thought Rock types would do the lifting
-Wattson was fairly forgettable until ORAS for better or for worse
-Winona was just kind of there, but also got better with ORAS.
-Juan wasn't particularly interesting. Moustache or not.
-Roark is kind of plain in contrast to his hot-blooded father
-I keep forgetting Crasher Wake's specialty is Water and not Fighting.
-Clay is mostly forgettable, even though he does some important shit.
+Korrina is the only character that does anything memorable in-game. The rest do have personality quirks or memorable Gym gimmicks at least.

Gen 5 was nice but you are seriously, seriously downplaying the gym leaders in HGSS. We see all of them outside the gyms and they all have little stories going on too. You learn more about them and most of the johto ones have errands outside thier gyms that they do during the story.

You have stuff like Jasmine going to Kanto to talk to Erika or Whitney going to the Radio Tower to get her Pokegear upgraded.

Better yet, it wasn't all related to the story, so we just got them being fleshed out more.
