It's a shit design, constantly shilled despite it, and if I want to use it's stronger form I have to put up with it being called fucking Ash-Greninja, even though Ash's Greninja was a jobbing cunt.

It's also 'the new Charizard, but even worse" at the point and even people who like Greninja are getting sick of it. It's constantly getting new merchandise, even more than Pikachu and Eevee sometimes. It's featured heavily in advertising and promo materials. The writers went out of their way to give it some ridiculous evolution in the anime that somehow made it into the games.

Shilled and hyped more than both Charizard and Lucario combined to the point people think its the only starter in gen 6, has an autistic "super" form with an even more autistic name in Ash-Greninja, and GF quite clearly plays favorites with it over the other starters.

Chesnaught would've been fine if it wasn't for the sausage arms and dopey pose (and >tfw no chestnut tree final evo with swole as fuck arms) and Delphox is an irredeemable traffic cone that was let down completely and utterly by its terrible model.

I even like Ash Greninja, but its execution was just terrible. Why not make it a Mega Evolution? It's basically the same thing. It even gets the rainbow light when it changes form. Instead we get a shitter locked into a neutral nature which can't breed. For what purpose, Game Freak?

It was Lucario before Lucario was a thing. Its popularity is probably partly to blame for all the Fire/Fighting starters we got over the years.

Popular here and among the masses around the world. A recognizable design, cool shiny, and a good ability meant it outshine all the other starters. Basically Gamefreak had a hit similar to Lucario and capitalize on it and /vp/ being contrarian decided to hate it. Greninja is popular, including Ash-Greninja which is why they get merchandise.
