That's pretty much the main appeal of Pokemon. The less new Pokemon the less new Pokemon we have to discover. Doesn't make it better than they've revealed so many already. This is what made Black/White so fun.

The Alolan Pokemon have the role of expressing the culture and atmosphere of the region. There's the happy flower lads, a Toucan, a koala and stuff. Everything looks friendly/colourful and it gets across the lax and tropical elements of the region. The totems show the distinct regional heritage and the charming, folksy elements of its people. So on, so forth.

The concepts in Pokemon games are on the surface and made to be legible so that children can figure them out. If this is too complicated for you then you must have some sort of learning disability and, as such, you're not really fit to comment on the subject at all since you clearly struggle to comprehend it. That's pretty common on this board, though. I've maybe twice seen someone use the word design properly here.

Yeah, some alterations now and then are pretty good. I'm a fan of Marowak and Exeggutor. Others not so much, you get shit like blue Ninetales or the clusterfuck of a design Muk is. If it is based off an oil spill, the colors do a shit job at representing that
