Is it going to be like yugioh where the cards summon the pokemon or is it going to be about a little japanese boy who lives a normal life except he is really good at the game and makes it to the championship with interesting characters to duel?

Is it going to have mind games like Death Note, or is it going to be over the top action like DBZ?

Could be, but I don't want it to be too much like YuGiOh, you know, little nerdy kid gets picked on but truth is he is the best TCG player in the country. It could be like Saki but with guys and girl or it can be like Digimon Tamers but with out the monsters being real. You start out low level street player and end up working your way to the nationals. It would require minds games due to it being a card game and all, you need some bluff skills.

As for everything else, yes, it could have drama, comedy, and romance.

Here is one problem for you: the tcg is based on the pokemon world. Will the anime take place in that world? While everyone is fighting with real pokemon you are stuck with the card game? Will it take place in the real world and where the anime and the games exist?

That is the biggest problem I think. Yugioh is just an anime and the cards just drive the story.

The more I think about it the less it seems to work.

Well the premise could be anything really. If you want it to take place in the pokemon world we already have would be okay. You could have some kid who is uninterested or inept about training but is pro at TCG. Or it could be like YuGiOh and the monster comes to life when the card is played. Or it can be a world where the pokemon as we know it don't really exist and it is an anime. You could pick one of these three ways to do it or it could be a combination of them

The best one is probably Aim to Be a Card Master!! even though the art is kinda shitty.

I love Yu-Gi-Oh, but I recognize it sometimes is just ridiculous.

Vanguard, on the other hand, is mundane (at least most of the time). Pokémon TCG would be great with that kind of setting.

James had some TCG cards back in season 1. So there is some for of the TCG being part of the pokemon world we know of. Knowing what kind of hobbies James is in to, would it be a stretch to say that he wants to be a TCG master?
