Nah. Gen 8 and 9 are gonna be filler, Gen 10 is gonna be their last hurrah which will land on the 30th anniversary, raise the pokedex to exactly 1000 Pokémon and reaching that milestone is why they are releasing so few pokemon, and finish off the series. Gen 11 will be the reboot.

Why do you set yourself up for such obvious disappointment? I think (>>29496618) has the right of it. They are trying to hit the 1000th Pokémon milestone, gen 10 milestone, and 30th anniversary all with the same game. It explains the lower number of new Pokémon the last two gens.

THAT SAID, They do seem to WANT to add more without inflating dex numbers, which is why we got Megas, Alolan Forms, Schooling, Lycanroc forms, etc. Adds to the number of Pokémon without increasing the dex size.

So I could VERY MUCH see a game giving us 50 new Pokémon, and then 100 regional forms.

Honestly, I would LOVE for them to add Breakthrough and EX Pokémon.

Breakthrough is a generic statboost that just raises you to 600BST, raising all your stats proportionally, however using Breakthrough still counts as your one Mega Evolution for the match.

Pokémon EX are just stronger Pokémon with all kinds of bullshit stats and abilities (like what people thought UBs were going to be), but they take up 2 roster slots in the party. Megafug would be reclassified from a mega to an EX.

It's a way to get a bunch of new Pokémon as far as usability is concerned, without bloating the dex with extra clones of existing Pokémon.

The only issue with the Alolan forms is that there are too few of them, and it should be across multiple gens, not just gen 1 Pokémon.

Cross armor mode:
The bond between a pokemon and its trainer is strengthened with a medium and that medium is the pokeball,

- in battle the pokeball flies around the pokemon & merges together and gains armor bilities depending on the ball types :)

- similar to Eviolite, the Armorite can only be equipped to a pokemon that can still evolve. It makes sense bcos pokeballs has been around since ancient times.

The pokemon's gains power ups and 2nd ability like
- fastball
Boost: +50 speed +25 atk +25 sp atk
2nd ability: fastforce - moves with same type as user gains priority.

Boost: +50 hp +25 def +25 spdef

A new ITEM you have to give your Pokemon to hold and a new one you have to find to hold yourself which essentially gives any Pokemon holding that item "Battle Bond."

Still require you to knock out a Pokemon. But it'll be buffed, not change appearance of Pokemon (With exceptions), and will have a unique mechanic that if that Pokemon faints you immediately lose the battle.

Pokemon customization.

Like with the DNA ultra beast shit, another scientist in the vile theme, researches a way to control pokéDNA at will, so the you go getting piezes of data, a little bit of rattata a little bit of pikachu, a tail of slowpoke and so on so on.

so you make this soup of ingredients and the you get a mon of your own, "CREATE YOUR OWN POKEMON" and a lot of shit customizations fro type and random look generated on the DNA you get. but only you can make one per game.

similar how you can create mii fighter on smash, but for pokemon.

Probably fan-submitted Pokemon designs or something. Can't really think of much else.

What sucks is GF doesn't seem to realize that they needn't always come up with some new, outrageous gimmick or idea. There are plenty of basic things they can return to and flesh out or expand on, like going back and giving certain Pokemon well-deserved [pr]evos. Little things like these are enough to make a good amount of fans happy.

Pokemon Trainer Level
As you catch new pokemon, win gym badges and complete challenges your character will gain experience and level up.
Leveling up will give you skill points that you can use to level up skills that increase your team's power.
For example skill Bug Catcher would raise all the stats of your Bug pokemon by 1% per level. Other skill could raise stats of pokemon with BST lower than 400, or increase one particular stat of all your pokemon.
Obviously you can't max all the skills at the same time, but you could reset and redistribute them with a special item or something.

Well Z-moves are a huge step down from Megas, so i imagine something even less significant than that, marketed super heavily.
