I have a love for owls, used to read the Guardians of Ga'hoole back when I was a kid too. Noctowl was never bad, but it's so...plain.

Rowlet being based off a barn owl was a dream come true, and I genuinely didn't think it could get any better, but then Dartrix and Decidueye were revealed.

Love at first sight, I tell you. I don't think any Pokemon can top Decidueye as my favourite.

The damaging Mean Look move is kinda cool. It's probably get Shadow Snek for priority, and something like Leaf Blade/Petal Blizzard/Seed Bomb for Grass STAB.

Ghost types also tend to get some crazy coverage moves.

That series was one my favorites back then, but I feel like the movie killed it. I understand that copyright reasons prevent movies from being close to the actual book, but it felt like Zack Snyder just pulled out chunks he thought were interesting and threw them together. I think the only good the movie did was bring up a fact that was overlooked in the books. I think it was book five where it mentioned that Nyra had a different mate before Kludd and that unknown owl was the original "High Tyto" before Nyra and Kludd banned together and killed the unknown owl.

Grass confirmed for best starter type. We get poison, ground and fighting as sub-types, a fair number of single types and now the based af Decidueye. Not to mention a mix of bi- and quadrapeds (no furbait at all) and even a snake. Water and especially fire can never recover from this.

It's a proper pokemon in that it doesn't express gender either way, so I'm really fine with either one. Personally I come up with better nicknames for male pokes, but I could think of something if I get a female one.
Nicknames are seriously the only baring a gender holds for me with pokemon.

I was Team Froakie from day 1 and I still like Greninja a lot, but I can't help but shake my head at how forced down our throats it's become nowadays. It sucks. Ash-Greninja is the stupidest thing to happen to the Pokemon franchise in a long time.

And this is my personal opinion, but check out this bit from the website:
