I really love Decidueye and Primarina. This is the first generation in a long time where I've actually like 2/3 final starters. Decidueye being slightly better than Primarina, but still.

honestly this time around i absolutely love all the starters. they are interesting from a design pov AND seem to have things going for them mechanically like cool typings and signature moves.

at first glance i liked litten the most. everyone seemed to love the bird and i can understand the robinhoot hype but the first evo was not very good imo. but i kind of switched to popplio.
popplio looked shit at first but traditionally water has been a pretty good bet even though some of the first evos looked shit. i believed in it.
as it became more apparent that the leaked evos were true i thought popplio was definitly the right choice, especially with litten becoming bipedal. but now that the typings are reveled i like litten a lot more and robinhoot typing has come as a cool suprise. i'll still go with popplio i think but the other two are pretty stellar too, even though i would have liked litten to stay down...

First generation ever where I actually prefer the fire starter, Incineroar even though I hated it at first.
Primarina is great as well, but there's no way I'm not picking _it unless the gender ratio is 87.5% female. I kind of wish it is, because usually I'm a waterfag.
Decidueye is okay, I guess, and I liked it the best at first, but its small corpus is really ruining it for me, plus I always want to have a Flying mon on my team, so Ghost wasn't too pleasant of a surprise. Too bad, I like birds and wanted to go with Rowlet.

That being said, despite my love for Greninja, this is by far my favorite starter gen since 4.

Also, as for why it becomes ghost, consider how much owls are associated with ghosts in folklore and such (barn owls are also known as ghost owls), and as for why it loses its flying type, I just imagine that its long legs make it much more adept at running and leaping than flying.

And my personal headcanon for the ghost immunity will be that it's simply so fast that it's able to anticipate all basic head-on attacks, such as tackle. Note how its description on the website says it's usual cool and collected, but gets flustered when caught off guard. That would be a good justification as to why it's now weak to dark and ghost type moves.

Why would it? Psychic Terrain blocks priority, not Dark-type moves, and Tapu Lele still takes neutral damage from Knock Off. Sure, Guardian of Alola might be worth running every once in a while since it looks like it deals a flat 75% of the target's current (max?) And it can't be alternate forms due to the datamine (unless GF were somehow smart enough to keep those out of the demo), it has to be their hidden abilities. Could be battle bond, was Ash Greninjas model in the datamine? Shiny coloring? They didn't say battle bond was a new ability only Ash Greninja could have, like most new moves/abilities.

Incineroar is a wrestling heel, wrestling heels are known for their dirty fighting. Fighting type by Game Freak is looked at as the good "guy"(Pokemon)/heroic while dark is evil/dirty fighting. It makes complete sense for anyone with a brain.
