I used to be one of those people who says they like every pokemon but goddamn Popplio3 is so fucking awful in every regard.

It occured to me that we COULD have had Ballio and co. in game as secret pokemon

but the state of gaming; ripping and dumping and wikiing every game down to the last detail prevents this from happening anymore

I'm hoping that I get used to her model/art more, but it's weird to see myself having such a dislike for something like this. Which is quite saying something because I like the previous stages.

Popplio's theme was just a performer who earns respect by doing something well enough to get applause, which continues into Brionne with a focus on dancing, and then continues into Poppmaid with a focus on singing. Sea lions playing with balloons/balls is a cliche from the circus, and it has nothing to really do with clowns inherently. If Popplio were to become a buff juggling clown, that continues the theme of playing with the bubbles as an entertainer, and for some reason makes it stand upright on its tail fins, which makes no sense for something as top-heavy as Pinnister to balance on really fragile "feet" all the time, and only being able to move from its spot without waddling like a retard by dropping the bubbles and crawling, unless he can handstand when he needs to.
Poppmaid still continues the theme. There was no clown theme to begin with. It was just a performer that uses changing types of performances as it evolves.

Brionne and Popmaid have no real "Performer" elements to their design. They're almost exclusively centered on the concept of sea mammals being mistaken for "mermaids".

If Popmaid had anything that was even vaguely reminiscent of Vaudeville, then maybe it would be possible that there was a consistent through-line in those designs.

Not until the Balliofags fuck off. It's not funny at this point. It's just pathetic. Clinging on this long to a shitty Fakemon that the creator came out and said was fake is just outright insanity. Liking the design is one thing, but believing, against any and all evidence to the contrary, that Ballio could have been real, is another. Male/Female or Sun/Moon split evo or not, Ballio would have never made the cut. I have no idea what made its supporters cling on so long to a fake that was confessed as fake. Maybe it's the clown shit that's going on. I don't know, but please get your heads checked if you're all not being ironic and legitimately thought it could have been real after the creator's confession, up until the Dex leaks.
