Everything from 1 to 7 and even beyond is all connected and rely on each other now, if you had generation 1 by itself in a vacuum it's a buggy and incredibly unbalanced mess, if you have generation 7 by itself it would be a weird game with far too many concepts to be a beginning.

I love Sinnoh, but we can all agree on that Sinnoh wouldn't had been held in such a high regard without its Cross Gen Evolutions. If Sinnoh didn't have them, then it might have had less of a positive status among the fanbase.

Though, there were some stupid decisions GF made, like giving Electivire a new great ability while Magmortar got the shorter end of the stick compared to its counterpart since it got Flame Body and its Speed got lowered somewhat more than Electivire (just one of among some other silly things GF did that Gen).

gen 4 is an odity for me, on one hand, it gave me some of my favourite mons, torterra, vespiqueen, garchomp, while also giving me some of my least favourite mons like ambipom, mime jr. and arceus.
overal there are a lot of good to ok mons in it, but it's all brought down by ALL THOSE SHITTY GEN ONE PREVOS AND EVOS, as well as having no legendaries i like, though giratina is somewhat ok, a bit too edgy for my taste, but that's just my personal gripe with edgy shit in general.
these extremes in poke quality make it land square in the middle of pokemon gens, for me at least.

gen 1 a best (fucking shoot me if you don't like it)
gen 2 boring, with some cool mons here and there, nothing special
gen 3 ok, lots of cool shit, not too many shit mons. but those legendaries god damn, they're cool and all but there are too many
gen 4 see above
gen 5 a worst, no doubt, shit starters, shit regular mons, shit legendaries. only a couple of cool pokes
gen 6 a step in the right direction, though i'm a bit iffy on megas, overal might be my second favourite gen, especialy with the return to a small number of legendaries.
i'll make my final judgement of gen 7 when its out and everythings been confirmed.

Am I the only one who loved the cross-gen evos? Sure gen 4 had legendary overload, a few too many shitmon, and blatant furbait. It was IMO only the weakest gen after gen 6. But I loved almost all of the cross-gen evos and I'm sad we'll probably never see that again due to megas.

Overall, a bad generation.


I agree tho that:
Gen 1 has boring mons.
Gen 2 has irrelevant mons.
Gen 3 has my faves, but the region is not of my liking as Jhoto was.
Gen 5 a lot of shitty mon.
Gen 6 has (for me) more good lines than this one.

Gen 7 so far have more lines I enjoy.

I guess I have shit taste if I say Gen 2 is best to me

Psychic is way too common and cluttered with useless and arbitrarily typed Pokémon though.

It's the fifth most common type, but it should be the rarest or at least tie with Ghost in that regard. Telekinetic abilities should not be something you see often.

I don't know, stats won't really save it for me since I don't play competitive. The only good designs in my opinion are wimpod 2 and the sand castle. The UBs are also pretty cool.
