I can't think of any benefits it has for Pokemon

No real reason to upgrade unless you like Shulk time. Oh also some SNES game are on the virtual console.
If what everyone is saying and the switch phases out the 3ds it will of been a largely pointless upgrade.

Is the difference in processing speed that different between the O3DS and the N3DS while playing the Demo?

I've tight about getting a New3ds mainly because of the possible lag and "Ghost lines" that were on my screen through the demo.
Couldn't tell if my O3DS's screen is going bad, or if it was just the SM Demo.(Tested other games and couldn't see them.

It has a better track pad, and apparently has better load times. Although I still wouldn't get the XL unless you like pixels the size of your fingernails

Yeah, loading screens are a fair bit shorter for smash and a couple other games for me.

No, the 2DS was just made for parents to give their kids a less breakable 3ds without the 3d so kids would not hurt their eyes.

I upgraded from O3DS XL to N3DS XL so my sister could inherit my O3DS for Pokemon. I really like the N3DS. It adjusts to the light in the room to avoid hurting your eyes. The load times are a bit better too. I also haven't noticed any lag while using the 3D feature like I could easily see on the O3DS.

Downside: The tiny c stick is hard for me to use. I don't think you can click off WiFi in a flash like before. The cart slot is also moved to right under your left hand. I'm paranoid in gonna pop a cartridge out by mistake.

If you're really needing an upgrade, I recommend it.

I did, my 2ds was new so it played the demo pretty nicely, only lagg i got was from when the totem pokemon hakomo-o used that speed boost move and when you let the camera zoom on the pokemons in battle, also the load time is as heavy as smash, other than that it's totally fine
