There's no skill involved in catching Pokémon with arbitrary catchrates. Any idiot can get a Pokémon into the red and put it to sleep. The Masterball just spares you the trouble of having to spam twenty UBs.

Premier Ball is where its at. I honestly never noticed a difference between a regular pokeball and an ultra ball.

This. I try to catch as much as I can in Premier Balls. I actually went through and caught every bonus legendary in Alpha Sapphire in just Premier Balls.

I personally used Master Balls for all cover legends, as they all follow the stat formula of Mewtwo, who the Master Ball was intended for. Basically, a symbol of power.

Gen 7's Master Ball animation feels a bit lacking though, so I may very well retire them for full time Luxury Balls, or the "UB" ball.

Luxury balls are canonically more comfortable for your pokemon. Using them literally means you're a better trainer.
