What went wrong? Will its Alola form be any better?
Normal-types became irrelevant.
It has shit resistances and common weaknesses.
It's slow in a speed-based meta.
Ground is no longer the best offensive typing in the game.
Poison is no longer the most common typing in the game.
The list goes on.

Rock used to be what steel is now.
The new form may be a little better if it's a steel type, but not by much. Give it an op ability and that may change though, we'll never know until they release a trailer about it.
>Rock/Electric
>Electricate - boosts normal moves 30% and turns them into electric type
>buff explosion to what it was in gen 4
There I fixed.
>>29404026
>Electricate
You aren't even trying.
>>29403950
SHUT UP!
AT LEAST YOU GET SOME LOVE.
>>29404026
>golem comes in
>switch to any ground type ever in the history of the franchise
>>29403950
We still don't know what movepools the Alola forms will have and even the BSTs of all the new Pokemon aren't confirmed since all we have is the modified ones from the demo. Alolan Golem is either Rock/Electric or Ground/Electric, and we still don't know what its ability will be.
In other words, nobody knows.

It's gonna be Rock/Steel. They want to give rare types to Gen 1 Pokemon. Ghost, Dragon, Steel, Ice and Dark. I want Rock/Electric so it can be unique but there is no way.
>>29404064
>ground type
Just into literally any Pokémon with a ground type move, senpai.
>tyranitar used mud slap!
>>29404108
I'm assuming it's Electric because of the railgun on its back and the fact that Alolan Dugtrio will either be Ground/Steel or Ground/Fire.
>>29404113
no, moron, to invalidate the explosion in the same way you'd switch a ghost in to block the boom
>>29404026
>loses sturdy
>meaning no custap explosion or guaranteed rocks
>meaning it loses the only things making it worth using even in PU
>>29403950
>Have a sturdy Golem
>Give it Weakness Policy
>Send it out against a Grass or Water-type Pokemon
Turn 1
>Foe Serperior used Leaf Storm
>It's super effective! The opposing Golem endured the hit!
>Golem lost 99% of its health!
>Golem's Weakness Policy activated!
>Golem's Attack rose sharply! Golem's Special Attack rose sharply!
>Golem used Sword Dance
>Golem's Attack rose sharply!
Turn 2
>Golem used Sucker Punch
This makes it usable, but it is still very flawed. You're basically fucked if your opponent has Sturdy, Unaware, Focus Stash or a Priority Move. Or a Ditto.

Dugtrio is an interesting case. I think Fire, even though, lava is basically just Ground but since every volcano-themed Pokemon has Ground/Fire typing, it makes sense. I could see Seel since the fiberglass thing but making another Ground/Steel mole wouldn't go well, even though they just made another useless Dark-type cat family.
>>29404516
Never thought about using Swords Dance. I ran Rock Polish instead, but +2 attack isn't always enough
>>29404057 It got a boost to its Sp.Def in gen VI didn't it?
>>29404516
I thought Rhyperior was the one who learned Swords Dance
