He had asthma, that's why he had to move from Petalburg to Verdanturf because the wind blew the soot from Mt. Chimney down to most areas of Hoenn except for Verdanturf. The spider lilies in the area of Victory Road you fought him at in ORAS symbolized the sickly part of him dying and that there was a new Wally in front of us.
