It's been confirmed that Z moves add 80 power to there linked move, (IE a nuzzle Z move is 100). The gigavolt move in the demo had 175 power, meaning that the thunderbolt class moves (surf flamethrower ice beam) must be back to their original power. How does that make you feel anons?
Maybe the higher tier moves got buffed too? (Fire blast, blizzard, thunder, etc)

Hopefully. That nerf on them in XY was complete garbage. If anything, Earthquake should've been nerfed.
Also, I know that thunderbolt had 90 power in the demo, but something tells me it's been changed back. Why would Z moves add a flat 80 power on every move EXCEPT thunderbolt? Either they changed the formula for one move, or thunderbolt will be back to 95BP in the final game

It'd be cool if they added enough power to them, like surf, to justify running it over scald on a few mons. Yeah, I run scald on nearly team just because it's so damn fucking good, but buffing surf so that it can kill things scald can't would be nice. Right now, doing slightly more damage than scald but not enough to OHKO or score valuable kills after rocks or the many many other situations means there are very few mons I consider using a slot for it on.

not true.

Pikachu has a unique Z move, it could be that it adds more damage but the animation wasn't in the demo.

The z move was giga volt havoc, same z move for every electric type.
