I am going to be the first to say it; Bandai sucked at making games for the longest time because their main focus was toys and television.
With that said, it seems as though the newest Pokemon trends have prevalent in Digimon since about three- four years after their inception.

I love Toy Agumon and Omekamon, I wish they were officially connected via digivolution, with forms in between.
I also love Mimikyu, although the fact it has no evolution or alternate forms is a bit of a let down from what I hoped for but it is still awesome.

While I like Crimson Mode, I feel Burst Mode is a better comparison, since Crimson mode is more like borrowing power while Burst Mode is going over the limit, just like mega evolution.
