I know fakemon get a lot of mileage, and the occasional trainer sheet and accompanying fanart, but apart from big groups, does anyone make their own towns, routes and/or dungeons for fun? I know it seems like kind of a weird thing to single out, but I find myself brainstorming location gimmicks lately and I was wondering what others have come up with.

i haven't really had a cohesive region in mind but if i end up with enough of these i might just patch them together and see what kind of region it makes

initially i had wanted to use DPPt and HGSS tilesets but for some reason I can't find them in the more obvious places online

>That strength boulder placement
I don't think you thought that through
was considering making a route 66 style desert highway route next but then i realized it'd just be a straight line and that'd be kind of boring to look at
>>29370505
oh yeaI guess I hadn't really considered having to come back down the ladder

the way i'd imagined it the mountain itself was kind of a one way trip. you'd climb all the way up, overlook the sea, then jump over the edge. It'd force you into a brief mandatory dive route. but that doesn't mean someone wouldn't enter and need to turn around before getting to the end
What are you guys using to make these?
>>29370601
i just grabbed a tileset off spritersresource and copy paste shit in photoshop, which i realize now, typing that out so bluntly, is stupidly inefficient and sort of autistic. I'm sure there's some easier way like a map editing program.

I was going to do the mountain next but i found out doing the forest that I really fucking hate trying to make even vaguely organic layouts. the mountain was going to have a "sleepy" theme with soundproof, sleep inducing, and rest/sleeptalk/snore using pokemon, and a snorlax blocking the path near the top

oh damn that's really cozy. is that a custom tileset? Also curious, what's the big building?

This looks like a Cinnabar Island where they made a sand bridge to Kanto
>>29370448
Spare me a link to those tilesets there jimmy?

primarily i used this one but I think it's technically incomplete, and there are a few things i had to coopt from rby
>>29371081
>incomplete
for example there's no night or morning palette for all the outdoor stuff

oh wait those have their own sheets

good maps OP, this is a good thread, post more maps

what kind of program do you use for creating these maps, Anon-senpai?
Alright, it's been a while since I've posted it here, but I updated some maps so here is what I have of a region so far.
>>29373167
And Safari Zone/National Park type thing.
>there will never be a Mario Maker style game where you can design your own region
Why even live?
>>29373895
DQ made one... so don't be too sure there won't be.
It could be the new trend in gaming.
>>29373126
Looks amazing.
>>29370676
Yes, there's a program called Tiled that is used by actual developers to make tile-based maps, but you can use it for your images too.
>>29374101
DQ?

Dairy queen!Dragon's quest.
It's supposed to be a silly extension in the emerald games. Basically a map where you battle both Aqua and Magma before you can catch Latias and Latios.
I've been working on this. The actual map is done. I just need to git gud at eventing and spriting to polish it into a playable state.

/heg/ would appreciate these

This house looks bad, but the rest of the map is rather nice.
>>29374243
Little too needlessly big. I'd remove a tier or two, or narrow each one.
