All of these, but if I had to add something on terms of "Kalos", it would be that it's much more fleshed out and there's actual fucking rivals. Also, having a tournament where you can fight a bunch of rivals you meet along the way is fucking cash, and makes sense as to why there isn't many people who challenge the Elite 4.

True, when the games were new the gym leaders has just a few lines of text, the E4 had less. The anime gives them movements and personality quarks that can be visualized

I think the games transitioning in 3D has the potential to change that. You notice more of their intended expressions and gestures for battle, hinting MORE at their personality than before.

The fact that GameFreak is dropping chibi models in mainline games and being a tad cinematic could be a step in the right direction. The idea of where it could go on a system stronger than 3DS sends chills down my spine, like Pokemon games almost wouldn't need an anime adaptation to do a region's story some justice.
